I hate to be reviving this old thread but it looks like I am. Ran into the same exact issue as OP and I’m terrified to hear you went and got a whole other engine.
Took everything out including all bolts and stays and the intake plenum didn’t budge a bit just like OP said. Looked closer and it looks previous owner has RTV put where a gasket is meant to be.
Don’t think a new engine is an option nor do I feel like pulling the engine. What are my options… engine crane and wrap the intake and pull? All ideas welcome.
