My father is selling his 1991 GMC Sonoma 4x4. He's 81 years old, so you know the truck has been driven gently. He's owned it for the last 11 years and has always pampered it. Almost always garage kept, rarely winter driven, oil spray rust proofing every year. Very little rust... a bit on the front fenders and A-pillar and a bit here and there, but overall very good. I've seen vehicles much newer with far more rust.

Another known issue is that the valve seals are a bit worn and it puffs some smoke for 10-15 seconds after starting up. But once it's running, it's fine. It's been doing this for a few years, with no other ill effects. The 4.3 liter Vortec V6 still pulls nice and strong as does the clutch. It's got the rare 5 speed. I've never seen a V6 4x4 S-series truck with this powertrain combination - very rare and desirable indeed!

Never been off-road or smoked in since we've had it, and probably not with the previous owner either. I don't believe it's ever been in an accident, but it does show some wear and tear that is to be expected of a 16 year old truck. It's got a trailer ball mounted on the rear bumper. We towed a trailer once with it. My father is going to get it certified and etested so all you need to do is get your insurance and plates and drive it home! We've driven it on many long road trips, some 1200+ kms. It should be fine to drive home anywhere, although being a used truck I can't guarantee it. Personally though, in my opinion, I'd trust it to drive home anywhere.

Here's a list of what it's got:

  • 231,000 kms (much of it highway and likely no off-road)
  • 4.3 liter fuel injected Vortech V6
  • 5 speed manual transmission
  • part time 4 wheel drive
  • super clean inside and out
  • brand new Blaupunkt AM/FM/CD player with wiring adapter and mounting plate (original AM/FM/Cassette is included in case you want to return it to stock)
  • 4 brand new Kumho Road Venture All Terrain tires in size LT235/75R15 filled with nitrogen
  • recently replaced water pump and alternator
  • Air conditioning, works great!
  • SLE trim package
  • rear jump seats with seatbelts (looks like they've never been used)!
  • Aftermarket tachometer
  • Vinyl hood bra/protector (not shown)
  • pop-open side windows in extended cab
  • Cap/Topper/Canopy over box, colour matched, tinted windows, sliding side windows with screens
  • Box shows very little wear (my father used a sheet of plywood cut to fit, included if you want it)
  • Will be certified and Ontario emissions tested
You won't find a nicer truck in this area! Best of all, it's stock and unmolested. Many trucks this age and body style have been abused, modified or are severely rusted. This is like a clean canvas... drive it stock and enjoy it like that, or have fun and modify it to your own tastes. Truly a bargain at just $3500 for a clean, stock and good running 4x4 truck. Why buy a newer one for more money? You may find a cheaper one, but it would probably need some repairs right away. This one is fine right now - just get in, drive it and enjoy! Nothing to fix!

Can be seen in Barrie, Ontario (about 45 minutes north of Toronto). PM me or call me at 705-770-1464 or 705-737-2806. Contact us soon, as I'm going to list it on eBay and in the local papers later this week. Here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure:

Maybe i'll give you a call later today....any time better that another

might be time for a road trip..

Best Regards

Gord

Hmmm!!! ........ would you want to work out a possible swap for my BJ 70??

Sure, that would be great if you want to give me a call later today. My schedule is real uncertain, so it's hard to say when would be the best time, so just give me a try when you're available. Or, send me a PM with your phone number and I can call you back (I have Vonage with free long distance).

My father is looking to sell his truck, as I think he'd rather have the money than another vehicle. He's been thinking that he may not get another vehicle, at least for now, as my parents still another car to use. Neither of them drive much these days. If you're still interested though, give me a call.

Thanks,

Peter
