My father is selling his 1991 GMC Sonoma 4x4. He's 81 years old, so you know the truck has been driven gently. He's owned it for the last 11 years and has always pampered it. Almost always garage kept, rarely winter driven, oil spray rust proofing every year. Very little rust... a bit on the front fenders and A-pillar and a bit here and there, but overall very good. I've seen vehicles much newer with far more rust.
Another known issue is that the valve seals are a bit worn and it puffs some smoke for 10-15 seconds after starting up. But once it's running, it's fine. It's been doing this for a few years, with no other ill effects. The 4.3 liter Vortec V6 still pulls nice and strong as does the clutch. It's got the rare 5 speed. I've never seen a V6 4x4 S-series truck with this powertrain combination - very rare and desirable indeed!
Never been off-road or smoked in since we've had it, and probably not with the previous owner either. I don't believe it's ever been in an accident, but it does show some wear and tear that is to be expected of a 16 year old truck. It's got a trailer ball mounted on the rear bumper. We towed a trailer once with it. My father is going to get it certified and etested so all you need to do is get your insurance and plates and drive it home! We've driven it on many long road trips, some 1200+ kms. It should be fine to drive home anywhere, although being a used truck I can't guarantee it. Personally though, in my opinion, I'd trust it to drive home anywhere.
Here's a list of what it's got:
Can be seen in Barrie, Ontario (about 45 minutes north of Toronto). PM me or call me at 705-770-1464 or 705-737-2806. Contact us soon, as I'm going to list it on eBay and in the local papers later this week. Here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure:
