:crybaby: Hello,

I am the proud third owner of a 1989 FJ62 LandCruiser (since 1999). I have been told my transmission is a goner. I would appreciate ANY information about where to locate a transmission. or if my current transmission can be rebuilt, or if I should by a used or another rebuilt transmission, and how much should I expect to spend. I really love, love LOVE this vehicle and would like to keep is as long as humanly possible.

With Sincere Thanks,
Gwen

Peter Merriam at Merriam Automotive in Duluth for a rebuild.

I dont know Peter but for the most part trany shops run the other way when asked to rebuild A440s. You can get them new from Toyota or you can get them from Australia. We may have a good used A440 cores at the shop. There is no cheep solution to your problem. The issue is that the A440 is a fully Hydrolic Trany which means that it has about 1000 parts (no exagaration) that have to come apart to rebuild them. You could do a H55, 5 speed swap for about the same cost as replacing your Auto.

We had a truck in the shop a few months ago with the same issue that we replaced w/ a H55 and it turned out fantastic.

Hi Gwen,

I just saw your post and I might be able to help. I have just swapped out my engine and tranny on my 1989 Fj62, so I have an original, although rebuilt with less than 3000 miles, transmission for sale. It is located in Utah but I can have it shipped anywhere in the US. I am asking $800 plus the shipping. It's ready to go and bolt into your truck to get you back on the road.

Thanks,

Jason
