WTT 1989 FJ 62 in West Virginia
SOLD
Ok guys. I think I want to trade this for an FJ 60 of equal or lesser value. I really want a manual trans. When i bought this my reasoning was fuel injection was more important than a manual. well I have to have a manual! Nuff said!
Hello all. I have decided its time for a new project. I bought this about a year ago from an 83 year old guy in Baltimore, MD. He had for 19 years. he got it with about 30k on it. Has never been wheeled even by me. Just driven around town. It had 198k when I got it. It now has 216K. I have replaced the following.
-New GMB water pump
-NAPA Alternator
-New Battery
-180 deg thermostat
-New lower rad hoses
-New hose from water pump to hard line.
-New Champion Aluminum radiator
-New muffler and tailpipe
-Rear heat bypassed due to leaking lines under vehicle, I bought the correct hoses and plugs.
-Trans cooler lines were leaking and I cut out the rusted section and replaced with proper trans cooler hose.
-I did a Rodney flush.
-I installed a Kenwood DDX 6019 in dash DVD player and four new Pioneer speakers.
-I also replaced the cold start timer switch with a used one from cruiser parts.
It runs great! I have put 18k miles on it in just under a year. The drivetrain had a pretty good vibe when I bought it. I greased up the U joints and it got much better. I then disconnected the driveshaft and found a little play at the Tcase flange. I unstaked the nut and tightened and restaked. huge difference! It still vibes a little above 70mph but I'm sure a new set of Ujoints will cure that. It has never used a drop of oil between oil changes! It does leak a little from the valve cover gasket but not enough to show a loss of oil between changes. When I got it the trans seemed to shift a little too hard for my liking. After some research on here I took some wrenches and went out driving and adjusted the Kick down cable to my liking. Turns out it was too tight. Shifts smooth now. The flush seemed to make it even better! The tires are just basic Kelly Safari street tires but have good tread! The front bumper is dented from the old guys wife hitting something. The driver mirror is cracked and I put an adhesive cut out over it. There is a little rust in the lower tailgate that the PO did a little repair work on. One rust hole in drivers rear Qtr panel but thats about the extent of it. The frame is real good. A little surface rust at the very back. I read alot on here before I bought one and learned this is sometimes a problem area. This one is good. Ok Thats it I guess.
I think my rig is easily worth 4k. Lets see what you got!
