Well, the time has come to sell Big Red. I've had big plans for this rig but time has not been on my side to work on her as much as I would like, so it's time to let her go to someone who can give her the attention she deserves.
This truck will be a great platform for someone looking to build a trail/overland rig or could make a great beach buggy with little effort.
Since I've owned her she's received:
-Remaned Air Flow Meter
-OEM Fuel Pulsation Damper
-OEM Fuel Pressure Regulator
-Coolant Temperature Switch
-OEM Throttle Position Sensor
-Newer transmission (approx 180k miles) and rebuilt heavy duty torque converter from Roadrunner Converters.
-Oil changes every 3k miles with Delo and one quart Marvel Mystery Oil, (due for an oil change now)
-OEM Spark plug wires approx 10,000 miles ago
-Fuel filter
Parts I haven't had time to install and included in sale:
-Almost new OEM steering stabilizer
-New Front rotors and pads
-Remaned Drivers side brake caliper
-New Rear drums and shoes
-Front seats from an early 2000's Isuzu Montero Sport
Things it will need very soon:
-New drag links and tie rods
-Transmission throttle cable--This is something I should have put in new when I replaced the transmission... of course the existing one snapped at the engine throttle body a month after installing the transmission. This now causes a flare between 2nd and 3rd gears and the transmission is otherwise shifting at a lower RPM than I like.
-A/C compressor. I have the original (currently not mounted) as I was intending to rebuild it but I then discovered the clutch magnet has gone bad. I haven't tried to track one down, but it is doable.
-Knuckle service
This rig is far from perfect, there is rust in most of the usual places found on these models, the driver's seat bottom is pretty torn up and there are various dents and dings--not the prettiest example but far from the worst.
So, if you've been looking for a project FJ62 this is a pretty nice candidate. If you're looking for a daily driver, then expect to put a little money and effort into it.
I'll be happy to answer any questions.
