1988 FJ62 Land Cruiser
254k miles
Price $3000
Was a daily driver until Sept '10 when it became an extra vehicle.

Just installed a new water pump, belts, thermostat, and hoses.
Runs good, but seems like it might be a bit low on power. I don't drive these fj62s very often so this might be a normal feeling especially with the 33' tires.

Passed smog recently with excellent numbers. Registered -Tags are up to date.

Regular tune-ups and maintenance performed. Oil changes every 3,000 miles since we purchased the vehicle about 10 years ago with 195k miles. I always used Toyota filters. Was my wife's daily driver until recently.

Has always passed smog except for a check engine light which turned out to be bad O2 sensors. O2 sensors were replaced with OEM units from CruiserDan.

I repainted the car a number of years ago but the clear coat is now peeling. On the roof and hood the clear coat is completely gone. It is now starting to peel on the tops of the doors. The vehicle has been outside (not garaged) for most of its time with us so it gets a lot of sun/weather.

Tires pictured are worn but legal 33x12.50. They probably have about 5,000 miles left in them. Also have stock chrome wheels (with some rust) and 31x10.50 tires. You can have either or both. The 31's also fairly worn. Legal, but need to be replaced.

Over the years:
New radiator – Radiator Barn aftermarket
New O2 sensors - OEM
New Fuel Pressure Regulator – OEM
A440F Transmission rebuilt by local transmission shop. This was a complete rebuild including new torque converter.
When the transmission was being rebuilt, I had the shop rebuild the transfercase with all new bearings, seals and gaskets. I also had them install a new rear main seal on the 3FE. This work totaled $3000.
I also added a large Transmission cooler – Hayden
Front bucket seats and rear seat reupholstered by a local shop – we paid about $700 for this work.
New heater blower motor
New blower motor resistor
Knuckle rebuild
Rod end rebuild
New Shocks
New belts, hoses, etc.
Tune up items like spark plugs, dist cap, rotor, etc
I added a long leaf to each spring pack and replaced the bushings. The leaf gave it about a 1" to 1.5" lift. Shackles are stock.

Optima red top battery (battery is current in the garage on a Battery Tender because the vehicle is not being driven except about once every few weeks when I put the battery in and take it for a quick spin around the block.)

The good:
These is no rust on body or frame.
Body is straight. Only dent is a quarter sized one just behind the fuel door. If you look close, you can see it in the first picture.
All parts and pieces are there. Nothing is missing.
Good glass, no chips, cracks or pitting. Windshield was replaced along with the rubber seal a few years ago.
Good headliner
Good door panels
Good seats
Carpet is fair, normal wear at drivers side and cargo area.

The bad:
AC blows cool, but not real cold.
Rear driver's side power door lock doesn't work with master switch. Lock works manually. I'm pretty sure its a wiring problem to that lock. Was intermittent, then stopped working. Have not investigated it but suspect a wire is cut or pinched somewhere.
Original radio. FM not working well or at all sometimes. AM is ok. Maybe its the antenna? Antenna is a fixed unit. The power antenna was not on the car when we bought it.
Engine drips some oil when the car sits. Not sure of the source but I think the side cover or oil pan needs a new gasket. New info: I think now the majority of the leak is coming from the front main seal.
Will need tires soon.
Update: Checked front brakes this weekend (7/25). They are good with about 40 to 50% pad remaining. Rotors look good.

Cosmetic issues:
Needs paint - clear coat is peeling
Dash has multiple cracks
Small quarter sized dent near fuel door
Chrome plating on the plastic grill is bubbled
Some spots of rust on the front and rear bumpers. Most will clean up with steel wool. Update: This past weekend (7/25) I cleaned these up with some 000 steel wool and most all the rust spotting is gone.
There is a vertical dent/crease in rear bumper, drivers side.
