I have a 1988 Portuguese BJ73 for sale.
I am in the Air Force and was stationed in Portugal, so I brought this gem back. Currently I'm stationed in California and will be going back overseas. I would rather sell this vehicle and have someone else have something in the Land Cruiser world that few have here in the U.S., if it does not sell I'll be forced to store it.

This is my daily driver and works well.

- Radiator was re-cored in Portugal
- Original VM motor was taken out and replaced with a 3B (non-turbo) from a 1990's Dyna Truck (3B's were used from 94 and up from my research)
- H55F transmission.
- Power steering.
- Tilt steering.
- This vehicle was restored before I got it, it does have some rust in the door area.
- New glow plugs.
- 12V system.
- Extra tray for 2nd battery.
- Odometer has 230K Km (don't know what the motor has).
- Tie rod ends replaced in 2012 for Portuguese inspection.
- Extra steering wheel and tail lights, will go with vehicle upon sale.
- New brake pads for the front, will go with vehicle upon sale.
- Vehicle is Titled and Registered in Montana. (It's my home of record)

- Does not have A/C

Asking $12K O.B.O

I can be reached at n7rks@yahoo.com / 831-760-nine zero six four

Thanks,

I always get a thumbs up when driving it, even had a guy yell out of his car "nice truck man!"... pretty cool feeling.

I forgot to mention that I installed a new tie rod end set, so it could pass the 2 year Portuguese inspection. I also have a new set of brake pads for the front that will go with it...plus some extra parts.

Missing the uber cool "4-matic" badging and full side stickers, thinking another $4k reduction is in order.....and I'll take it. :)

Ah...nice...but not falling for that one....

Very nice rig FJ005. Does this model have Power Steering?

Post graduate school , language or war collage? Im an ex Pacific Grover
Does it have suspension seats?

Yes, it does have power steering as mentioned.

Yes, Naval Postgraduate School, for a security studies degree, for Foreign Area Officer (FAO) requirements.

- "Suspension Seats?" do you mean jump seats like the FJ40? It has a back (bench) seat that folds up towards the front seats to make more room, no back seat belts though.

Hope this got all the questions...

Ah ok, the only ones I have seen were in the Mitsubishi Monteros/Pajeros, haven't seen them in the Toyota models (probably an option less picked).

Brilliant rig!

As soon as I find the needed 13 kilodollars, I'll be happy to relieve you of such an air-conditioning-less burden ;)

Hope you find a good home for it!

Thanks,
Yes, Kilodollars...I like it, it has a U.S / European style to it. When I was on the trails in Colorado with my FJ40, I always felt A/C was overrated at 12 thousand feet above sea level. o_O

So...with that, the new price is 12 Kilodollars...or $12K O.B.O

Give it some time, brutha. Give it some time.

Sure there are some watching that may not have seen a 73 in person, as I had not, and are unsure what to expect, so I'll offer:

Lemme tell you these are dang close to as cool as driving a Pig.

Very cool Cruisers, built tough and you'll look forward to driving....this particular one probably 5000 times more than mine, as mine's a VM with a cracked head, tires are shot, leafs flat, shocks non-existent, smells like a scene from Broke-Back Mountain (Stetson and Old Spice must've got it on in it) and I STILL love driving the thing.

Have never seen this particular 73 for sale, don't know anything about it, but if mine is indicative of the Portuguese market, as a whole, there's less rust than what was port installed on most 80s I've seen.

Just cool a$$ Cruisers.

Honestly have to admit the ONE aspect of driving that sucks, especially if you've a warm, bubbly personality, like I do:

Everyone wants to talk about them, everywhere you go, even folks that don't know a Toyota from a Chebby.

Takes three times longer to run simple Saturday morning errands, due to, and you've got to be ever mindful that the dude flagging you down in traffic is wanting to chat about, NOT trying to rob you.

Pulled into a convenience store for coffee, to come out and be surrounded by an $80k 4 door Heep crowd, probably on their way to the 4WP sale, to buy ANOTHER hi lift for their 22s ('cause every jeep needs three hilifts...) and they're all ohhing and ahhing over my 73, again, that pales in comparison (why I bought, FYI) to the one being offered, since a 3B'd 73.

Anyhow, hope this helps someone.

Edited: To be honest, be it the FJC, Pig, dearly departed 80, seems a trend that the Heepers show interest in.

Not that it's the reason, 'cause, believe it or not, I don't talk much :flipoff2: and personality of a porcupine (know the latter is even harder to believe), but it must say something about Cruisers, as a whole.

For you single doods....chicks love the 73.....until the get wind of the interior aroma of mine.

Thanks man,
I think I'm at a comfortable price with it now...

I just want someone to buy it and get it all dolled up...then I'll see it on some off road mag...and say "holy s***!, that was my truck...awesome!" :flipoff2:

Something like that.

LHD .... 5 Speed ( very desirable options ) Hang tough on the price and time permitting, be patient.
Ebay is always an option.
