Hi Folks

The wife and I need a 2nd 4 door vehicle. Baby 1 is here and plans are underway for baby 2. My Landcruiser has been with me for almost 4 years.....I'm the 3rd owner, the 2nd being the original importer who had it for about a year before his wife made him sell it for a family van. I use this as my daily driver....since the kid we've been using the VW so my cruiser hasn't been getting driven as much on my off days.

ABOUT THE CRUISER:

Its a RHD 1987 BJ71, This is a turbo diesel with the 13BT engine....all work has been done by either ATEB or Cairen Wilson. I have just under 153K on it, it runs like a dream. 2.5 inch straight pipe, Wilson switch, Solar Convertor, PTO Winch, fluids changed regularly with Lucas Additive every time, Kenwood cd player with 6x9's mounted in doors, step bars, Deerfield rims, Safari Snorkel, 5 speed transmission, AC, power everything, upholstry in good condition, rear seat removed for extra storage space.

Over the years i've had ATEB replace all the belts and hoses, the wiper transmission has been replaced, heater fixed, 2 new heavy duty marine batteries installed this past Winter, brakes done, alignment done.

I have NEVER taken this cruiser offroading. The rust is starting, but nothing out of the ordinary. The 4wd light doesn't work anymore but the 4x4 works just fine.

I'm looking to trade for a 4 door cruiser in similar condition or sell it for $12500 and look into importing a 4 door cruiser down the road. I will only trade for a diesel with a manual transmission.

Let me know if anyone is interested.

Will post pics later when I get a chance.

I don't think there is a law......I know lots of people buying newer vehicles states side and bringing them into Canada. But in all honesty, I'd have to look up and see whats involved. I don't think there would be too many issues but there is definitely going to be some leg work involved.

BUT.......for the right cruiser, yeah........i'm open to it.

Remember to bring your passport....we don't trust anyone:). The good news...our customs officers can probably be bought off with a good bottle of maple syrup.:)

nice bj71! from what i've seen in kijiji across canada, this is a FAIR price. and just think, one more year and it's ready for US import so whoever get's this in canada, will still have good resale down the road.

ever thought of a jdm diesel delica? especially with 2 kids planned, they make great family haulers. anyway, lots of them in BC and they have their cult following there in the delica.ca forum.

g'luck with the sale and all the best with the family plans.
cheers.

I was in talks to trade my vehicle for a Delica......I had a talk with my mechanic and was advised against the purchase. Don't wanna pick a fight with any Delica fans, but my mechanic warned that when things go wrong on the Delica its usually a chain reaction that requires a larger fix and more $$$ to fix it. I've read great reviews on the automatic transmission but not so good on the manual. DESPITE the warning from my biased Toyota worshipping mechanic :) i'm still considering it. We have another mechanic down the street who specializes in Delica's specifically and has offerred to be around for any maintenance needs I may have.

Its not completely off the table, but the Delica i'm interested in is rare, low roof, white in color, low km, rust free and in impeccable condition. It has a cash offer pending and I don't think I'm going to have my landcruiser sold in time to take advantage of the purchase.

I was advised that if I was in the market for a JDM van I should consider the HiAce with a KZ motor. While I love the look of the Delica L300, i'm not exactly turned on by the HiAce which can go for about 40% more than the Delica in price.

She's still up for sale......got someone comin down from up North at the end of the month whose looking for a veggie conversion candidate.

Here's an 86 BJ74 on eBay for comparison.....mine has 50,000 less KM, manual transmission, same engine, snorkle already installed and my asking $$$$ is less.

Anyone with $10,000 FIRM can have her. I will not be drivin her over the states or lying at the border....sorry.......she will stay listed at this price until she sells or until April 2012. After the new year if she's still not sold I will be listing her on eBay again with a starting price of $11,000......I hope to get over $12K for her.

I've found a 1999 4Runner with a rare manual transmission that I've got my eyes on........but wife won't let me buy until my landcruiser sells.

email me with questions/offers/etc. I'll update when she sells.

One fairly "large" difference however....The BJ74 that you mention
for comparison purposes is located in the U.S. which is like comparing apples to oranges. I do however wish you luck with the sell.

That is true...I didn't even notice that....thought it was a Canadian rig.

....thought it was a Canadian rig.....I am sure it at least spent some time there. Most 70 Series that end up in the U.S. seem to flow through Canada.

Only my wife gets to point out when I am wrong.

You guys were married and you didn't even know about it?

And you should communicate more face to face... :hillbilly:

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Carry on!

S.O.L.D. locally......she's still on eBay but she's pretty much sold. If anyone wants to BUY IT NOW for $15,000 this is your last chance before she's gone forever.

Thank you everyone for the advice, suggestions, and feedback.......I'm sad to part with her...she was a gem.

Buyer couldn't complete the sale due to family issues........She's back up on eBay

if she does not sell this round I will relist her in April. Lots of interest.... but the 25 year impediment is preventing anyone from pulling the trigger. April is 6 months away....if anyone can make this work here's a chance at a 13bt with low kms......It took me a long time to find this one so I can only imagine when the next one will come around. Email me if you have any questions
