A/C Info:
Below is the email that I got about fixing the a/c. I contacted Rex and had learned of him from this site. The a/c stopped working about a year ago and I did not replace it this summer. It is a little warm...if I kept the truck, I would paint it and fix the A/C. the rest of the stuff has been fixed as it broke or for cause. Radiator is rather new and fuel pump. Tires are in good shape as well. I used the truck to leave at an airport and to drive locally in VA. I used it as well to put a boat in the water and it has worked well for doing so. However, I sold the house this spring so I dont really need the car.
Hi Duncan,
Here's the parts breakdown for the FJ60: (the compressor, drier and
expansion valve are all OE Denso ) the compressor is $250 + a $25 core,
the drier is $31.33 and the expansion valve is $32.64. These are the
commonly replaced items, however, the condenser and evaporator can be
issues. A new condenser is $145 and the evaporator is $176. An o-ring
kit is $4.50. I carry the comp/drier/expansion/o-rings in stock, the
others it would take a day or two to get. I can get you a quote on the
shipping charges if you want to give me the zip code it would go to.
The hoses are generally not a problem.
Have you had the system analyzed to know for certain what the problem(s)
consists of? It gets expensive to just replace parts-and the original
stuff is pretty durable.
Let me know if you have more questions,
Thanks,
Rex
