At the end of 2003, TLC4x4 in California performed a first-class conversion of my 1987 FJ60 with 2" OME and 33" BFGs to fuel-injected, OBD2 4.3L Vortec (factory new in 2003), and H55F (factory new in 2003). After 11 years of daily use, it's still in great cosmetic condition as well as mechanically sound - I drive it 70 mph daily to work and get a consistent 15 mpg (highway) / 14 mpg city, 4WD works great during 2-3 off-road trips each year, interior is aging a bit but still in decent shape, AC blows good and cold, and I've kept up with routine maintenance (oil & belt changes, new BFG AT's in December 2012, suspension lube, coolant flush) as well as a few typical repairs (brake service in 2011, steering pump in 2012, rear main seal in 2013, new suspension bushings in 2014, and in-line fuel pump replaced just recently in 2014).
Some improvements include a swing-away tire carrier from SOR, Tuffy center console, Alpine CD player with mp3 input, and a carpeted rear storage/tool drawer with smooth-gliding, heavy-duty sliders.
The only issues on the vehicle that a new owner may wish to fix include a slow steering pump reservoir leak, the rear left seatbelt is tempermental and sometimes sticks, main dash cover next to windshield has a sun crack and could be replaced.
I have owned this FJ60 since 1998 (~85K on odometer when purchased), during that time living first in Southern Colorado (~115K on odometer at time of conversion) and later in North Texas (~235K miles now on vehicle, or ~120K since the TLC4x4 conversion). Due to my growing family and no longer living near the mountains, I am looking to sell the vehicle in the near future.
Asking $18K OBO (which is roughly 50% of a comparable/new TLC4x4 build). If you are interested, please email me for further information or additional photos.
