Hi,

1st post here, thanks for all the great contributions to everyone.

My 86 HJ60 has 263,000 Kms (Canadian made), and the transmission just started slipping under load yesterday. Transmission shop wants to pull, and try to repair, or replace.

I am wondering how to proceed here, and I'm looking for you cruiser veterans to give me advice about where to start.

-Tranny fluid is full, and does not smell burnt, appears good color.

-Heard one grinding/rumbling noise right before i shut it down. Like the slippage, this noise happened going up hill, under load.

Thougts Welcomed!

Cheers

Did the Canadian 60's have AT's? Is it the A440F? It should not be a problem for them to rebuild it if they know what they are doing. On the other hand, this might be time to offset the costs of upgrading to a SBC V8 and 4L60e.
Better MPG's + more power = happy Cruiser.
