Hey guys got a 1986 fj62 with a 3F switching to electronic contact breaker dizzy, does anybody know much about them? My main question is the coil says 12v but it has a ballast resistor that is giving it only 6-7 volts, does it need the ballast if it’s a 12v coil? And can I just remove the ballast when I install the new dizzy and not burn up the coil? Cheers

What did the instructions for your new electric ignition say? What brand is it? Without any information from you we are just guessing.

The original points only get 6-7 volts so they last longer.

Didn’t come with any, there is another tread on this distributor but it doesn’t say anything about the coil, will the coil be fine with a full 12v?
