Hi all
** UPDATED w/ NEW PHOTOS
Looking to sell my Dad's 86 FJ60 in Truckee CA.
Its been sitting outside under a deck for about 4 years.
It is registered inoperable with the DMV in 2012.
It passed smog in 2012 or 2011.
Probably wouldn't pass CA smog now, needs a muffler.
Would rather sell out of California so we don't have to deal with smog.

We're asking $3500
It starts and runs but I would not drive it far as it's been sitting a while.
My Dad's the original owner (well it was my Dad's company truck then they gave it to him when he retired. Truck was in California all it's life, rust is from its life in Truckee winters back when it used to snow here.
147k miles
Records from about 70 -135 k
Rust in the rear fender wells.
Interior pretty dirty
100% stock including stock radio
All smog equipment present
A few dents
Oil leaks, but doesn't burn oil
Date of manufacture is May 1986 so it has the 38mm Idler in the Tcase
Not in a hurry, I might take it for parts (I have a '87)
Thanks

Not sure what the "registered with DMV as inoperable" means... But I just registered my 1990 and missed renewal date by only a month. Had to pay assorted DMV penalties amounting to an additional $74. :bang:

Yes, seller is responsible for having it pass smog. And for that matter, it might be a hard sell without a recent smog cert.

Good Luck with sale.

The most important thing, if selling to a California buyer is a current smog certificate. It is the sellers responsibility to pass smog.

If the non-op is current there should be no back regestration fees.

Ive got a question, what would prevent him from selling the vehicle to anybody that comes up and offers him the money for it, no matter what state they are from? If someone wants to buy it knowing it won't pass smog, who says they can't?

EDIT: I would spend a little bit of money having it transported the hell out of CA and to your home. Then any other money you put into it should go into adding value to it, not passing some stupid CA emission laws. It was your dads since new, it has to have a little sentimental value, right? Its original paint with cool factory decals and only a little rust. And it runs? And is completely stock? Have you seen what 60s are bringing lately? Screw the CA DMV, you shouldn't waste a single minute jumping through any of their hoops regarding smog, back registration or any of their BS. There are plenty of people all over the country that want these things.

Hey 89
Thanks for the advice. Believe me we are having some family discussion about the future of the beast. This thing must have some really good karma as it starts right up every time I visit, never an issue.
Cheers!

surprised this is still aroiund. A lot of guys on here looking for a 60 series.
A chance to own a one owner rig in a great color. If I didn't have to have a 62 (automatic reasons with wife), I would be very interested.
GLWS!!

Nice looking retro rig! Does this rig have AC? Is the trans a four or five speed? Thanks!

AC components present but non-operational - no cold air produced, not sure why.
Stock 4spd transmission.
Has a hole in the muffler
email or call if you want more info e3laserena at yahoo dot com or five two zero 258 9438

I wouldn't drive it either but I would have Aaron at Summit ship it. Truckee is on a major trucker route (i80) so shipping shouldn't be much more than the cost of flying out there and driving it home and without the hassle.

it is at least a $200 to $300 shipping cost. someone should snatch it up. i would but have no room for another right now
