I'm a newb here, but ive been lurking for a good lil' while. The purpose of this post is twofold.

1) To get a better idea of what my truck is worth.
2) To see if any forum members are interested in a trade for a rig that I can haul the family and dog with.

I have a 1985 Toyota SR5 X-tra cab 4x4 with aprox. 125k miles. The truck is not perfect, but honestly its pretty darn close. I have a ton of service records from the PO and this truck was taken care of amazingly.

The interior is near perfect. It is as good as any 26 year old rig could be. My car is a 2003 M3 and it's interior is not as clean as this. The exterior is beautiful with original paint. There a few small surface rust spots on the bed rails(2), and some small spots on the tailgate. The truck runs flawlessly and mechanically it is very solid.

I'm looking to trade it for a rig that I can take the whole crew into the hills with. I'm really not much of a mechanic, so I'd prefer something that does not have too many miles, and is not too labor intensive. I've got a soft spot for a 40 (don't we all?) but I'm open to ideas.... :hhmm:

Personally, maintenance history is more critical than mileage. If you aren't much of a mechanic, you might want to look for an 80 or ? Just my opinion.

Nice truck!
More pics would be needed to properly evaluate. $5500 to $6500 depending upon options (A/C, etc). Just my best guess.

I, too, love the 40s, but I'd want a NICE one if I ever bought one.

Good luck!

Well, I love 80's and 60's as well. A 100 would be really swell, but they're a bit out of my price range I suppose... That said, I've got some cash to put twoard the right deal.

22-RE with a 5 speed. Last year of the solid front axle, first year of the FI. 85' is the only year with this combo. Haven't had it off road much, but it sure goes where you want it to.:D

A/C? Power steering?

No AC, it does have power steering. Also a pretty nice stereo system. 2 Alpine amps, Suondstream separates, and a small Pioneer sub. None of it obnoxious. The head unit is a Sony tape deck with equalizer. State of the art for early 90's! Sounds pretty darn good though.

I would say that is worth $6000-$8000 to the right person.

The FJ40's and FJ60 are maintenance nightmares...and we love them for it!:D

You should probably be looking at an FZJ80 or a Tacoma, maybe a FJ40 with a EFI V8 (sacreligous)...

Appreciate the advice KayakPanic. The master plan if I acquired a 40 would be a v8 w/EFI swap. but an 80 or 100 would probably be the best choice for me right now. I also love me a 4Runner...

if only it had A/C....Nice Truck!

I suggest not subjecting your family to a 40. Get a 4runner, or an 80 if you have plenty of money for gas. Trading's a good idea, but you might also consider putting it up for sale. Very nice truck!

'95 FZJ 80

I would consider my 95 FZJ 80 from California triple locked with 2" suspension lift, leather, sunroof, ARB safari rack, aftermarket teflon rims and tires, 153k miles 2nd owner, original paint, 3rd row seats, factory alarm, power pckg, very minor scruffs but really nice overall. Plus cash of course.....?

Funny to see your truck my dad has the same rig but with a/c. He has about the same mileage and tried to sell it a couple years ago. They are worth what the right and it takes the right buyer. best of luck they are nice trucks.

Still looking for interesting trades, talking with a few folks. People keep asking me what I'd let it go for. 6,500 is what I'd look for, but I'm more interested in a trade.
