After the success of our first restoration project we started work on our second project another FJ40. This is an 1983 production (as per the paper work) and was originally equipped with a 2F motor which has been swapped with the more efficient 3F. We are upgrading the transmission to a 5 speed and giving it a full frame up rebuild. Unlike our first restoration this truck was fully functional but needed some body work and complete clean up. I have attached a few photos taken a few weeks back.

Those are some pretty stout looking tubes on the rear roll bar hoop!

Did you acid wash the hood and doors in the above pic?

Frame, Hubs, Tub and wheels

Been busy getting as much work done on Project 2 so sorry for the late updates. Here are some photos taken during the last 2 weeks. We are pretty much done with all the mechanical restoration. The frame, Axles, and drive train is ready. Working on the Tub so that we can have it in the booth by the end of the week.

Nearing completion

We took project 2 out for its first on road test run and everything checked out just great with some adjustments needed to the brakes . The 3F + H55 combination has changed the whole drive and feel of the vehicle.

We are now down to final finishing and touches after which the truck will be going to its new owner.

Here are some updated photos from last week. The soft top is new from our stock but is temporary the final top will be of a different color.

Enjoy
