Truck shipped from Colombia after 2 month overhaul of a very nice truck. Truck is in container now inbound to Tampa, FL. Volcan 4x4, LLC is the seller and a bonded Florida car dealer. This is my personal favorite out of a dozen FJs but have to sell it. Just something about it. Engine purrs like a sewing machine.

We believe 3 owners and 165,000 miles. Truck I believe is an original Soft Top spec with the original soft top bars. Has original Nippodenso AC unit and controls. Has recharge blows cold.

Body wise very straight body lines with original Toyota turn signals. Truck may have had some repairs in the front floors and rear sill but we did not repaint the truck only repainted some touch up. Extremely clean underneath. This is a 9 out 10 body lines original truck that has had some repaint over the years but is extremely clean.

Truck has or received in January 2016 the following:
electronic ignition
125 compression 2F
4 speed H41 4.10 gears (these soft tops run about 55 mph to 60 mph then tops start to flap anyhow)
power steering rebuilt box below Kotek gaskets no drips/ Toyo PS pump above
all new fluids, grease, coolant filters
4 Tokico shocks and nonbrand steering stabilizer cant remember the name
5 restored 15 inch Toyota wheels painted cream white
5 new 31 inch mud tires. brand is GT Adventurero. I had them on another truck and liked them.
newer AVM auto hub we just repainted it and kept it
new exhaust from manifold back
all new high quality vinyl interior and custom floor mats front and rear. seat bases repainted all new foam
nice pioneer stereo 2 hidden speakers
custom door hinges you can pull the doors off and run the beach
new japanese carb
new NGK spark plugs and new wires
battery we did not replace but fine
new soft top
dash pads are not OEM but look nice
custom steel roll hoop ties into the rear fender and body tub. Tightens up the ride a bit.
front and rear bumpers are new
4 drum brakes reviewed and brake booster rebuilt
Has 6 seatbelts.

Truck gets reviewed again Tampa by mechanic and I drive it. Should need nothing.

Only nitpicks on this truck would be door handles and Toyota glass has been 'marked' with Colombian license tag. On the windshield surround there is a slight dimple. you have to look really hard to even find a scratch on this truck. I have a matching red trailer, wheels and tires for this truck too.

Asking $10,000 refundable deposit to secure the truck. It will be in Tampa in 2 weeks. We like to ship the soft tops in enclosed trailers. Costs more but protects the tops.

Hello CHAS404, gotta say you are finding some real nice gems down there... I have been looking at your website also... Would have loved to have had one of those 43 you found there... But I have a really nice solid 40 now... I got it out of Texas and it was originally an Arizona 40... Now it is back in AZ with me and I am sure it will be here forever...

Do you sell your 40 soft tops, and those rear doors with the bow kit by chance?? Wondering how much they are, they look like really nice quality! What about those rims on "Raquel" above... They look really nice! What A/C systems due you add to your 40's if they don't have it?? Price? Just curious, things I am looking for, for my 40!!

Glad everything is going really well for your down there... You definitely seem to be in a great market and are again bringing in some quality vehicles.

hey thanks. 2.5 years on the ground I have better contacts and finding better original trucks despite increased competition. I get asked alot about the tops but the issue is you have to have the truck on site at the soft top specialist. The blue FJ43 I have for sale we had to change the rear hinges for the soft top metal half doors and essentially repaint the rear half of the truck. The tops are custom made and have to be adjusted to fit the truck. Let's say later you want to sell your truck and 50% of buyers may want the hard top. In the end if you want a soft top FJ40 or FJ43 it really is better to work out a trade. AC systems I use generic units within Colombia OR honestly have had good luck with Nostalgic Air out of Ocala, Florida. They have a 4 vent system that is lower profile than the Vintage Air unit. I put on in an FJ43 that is in Arizona. Send me a PM or email charlie@volcan4x4.com. As you know AC in a 40 or 43 is a losing battle but the AZ client likes that unit alot. Also I bought a simple heater unit from them that turned out fine. The rims are actually from later 70 series but they are very very close to the 1980 and up FJ40 rims. I have a source that finds me the ones that are not beat up and we check them for balance and clean and repaint them cream white. Not as good as new I guess but so far I have run them to 55 to 60 mph on 2 trucks so far no issues. The 16 inch split rims I have given up on. Too beat up too heavy and local shops wont work on them. I have 5 extra white rims in storage here in Tampa if it turns out I dont use them will sell them to you. Some clients want the gray hubcap rims so I order them new from CCOT. The white ones ther are expensive as you know. I do think the ones on Raquel have slightly smaller D shaped holes but you can not really tell the difference than they are real Toyota. This is my favorite truck of all. Something about an original truck even with its faults I prefer over a frame off.

that is top fits really really nice - what kind of fabric is it?

I don't know who did this top as the seller had it done but it is nicer than the blue FJ43 truck I have listed here by a bit. It is heavy vinyl. This truck has paperwork showing 1981 FJ40L making it an original soft top from Japan and we think it has the original soft top bars. We did an FJ43 with a lighter Sunbrella brand cloth and while it looked amazing I think long term I like the heavier vinyl. Going forward I am going to use vinyl and try to reinforce the straps etc as they begin to flap at 55 mph to 60 mph. For most beach trucks not a big deal but we are working to increase the cruise speed to 65 mph so we need a more reinforced top.

I wanted to post that this truck along with the blue FJ43 will be in Tampa area soon in about a week. Anyone who would like to see them and/or pal around even if not a buyer please come visit. Unfortunately I don't have a personal FJ still and have had to sell these trucks too quickly to pay the bills.

1981 FJ40L. Truck started after sitting for 3 weeks with a little choke. Something about this one I really hate to sell it. I get guys daily asking me for the soft tops without the truck but I do NOT ship them sorry. Please investigate the process you have to completely repaint the rear of the truck and installation takes 2 to 3 weeks with the truck at the shop. If you want a soft top consider trading me your hard top for a Colombian spec truck. In my experience you can not have both a hard top and a soft top. I did a hybrid truck with both and it is just too much work and the tops are heavy. enjoy the pics I really dont want to sell it and the weather is perfect! please feel free to come see it in Tampa.

Wow. When I say I love this truck more than any other FJ it is not because of color etc or model it is because of condition and as most you guys will know no hassles. this truck likes me. some of the others like to break down on me etc haha. just ran this truck in sunny Florida all day ran 65 mph gps confirmed. that is with 4.10 gears (unless somehow someone changed them which I doubt) and 4 speed and 31s. By 65 mph the top is flapping. This is my 2nd FJ40 at 65 mph so maybe it is the combination of 125 psi and the new non USA carb. Have used 4 now. they are AISIN copies either from Korea, Indonesia or now Japan. I dont think it matters where from but it is new. Could be also the FJ43s may be a bit pokier. In flat Florida running 60 mph versus 55 mph is more comfortable. Great running truck hate to sell it. pretty sure I will find a home for it soon. I am no expert but having done over 12 FJs have gotten the leaky PS box issue solved along with squishy steering (well to a degree as we know how these steer), solved the carb issue (just buy NEW), and a few others. Learn by mistakes and trial and error and have new mechanics. Still getting some electric hassles due to these being frame on trucks and having alarms and stereos etc (this truck was not messed with too badly). Need to do separate posts on this in the technical but I think wiring is my next frontier. The Toyota gauges/instruments I have now working on all trucks but they are weak for sure. 65 mph!

Truck still for sale. Has clear Florida title in hand. Finishing two minor issues. brand new waterpump slight leak needs to be tightened down. Just ordered brand new OEM $200 PS pulley due to belt squeal. belts and hoses all new. I have a matching trailer too for it made from an FJ43 tub. Have $6500 into it will add it for $4500 negotiable. Can get a quote to repaint it to your truck's color. Would make for great little adventure trailer with a tent. if anyone wants the trailer separately feel free to ask. it is heavy duty frame built in Tampa new manufacturer's statement of origin late 2014. Real FJ40 lamps. This is a sweet little truck and trailer. AC recharged and works.

This truck sold thank you. Around $36,500. I put heat in it and gave the trailer up too which pains me but a deal is a deal. Great little FJ40 will be missed.
