Just Curious, why does it mater if you have power steering. I have an 84 BJ42 and replaced the radiator and the power steering was not a factor at all.

Thanks,

Michael

Michael.

On the 1981 and 1982 BJ42 (manual steering) the top rad port is on the right side...right where the power steering pump goes. In 1983, Toyota moved the port to the left side, to make room for the ps pump. The bottom rad port stayed on the left in either version.

that is the proper way to adapt for the PS or you can do what i did and get a mandrel bent 180 degree and then use the facotry hoses. when it was done it was hard to tell from factory (unless of course you knew better)

thanks for the update Greg....

:) :) :)

Why was it rebuilt?

was rebuilt as a part of the restoration project which included an engine rebuild (i always put a new/rebuilt radiator with any engine rebuild), then the decision was made to go to power steering......and i could get the new power steering radiator, so the original one was now not needed, and totally rebuilt.
