Howdy folks,

I'm the new guy here. After creeping through all the beautiful FJ40 build on here I finally have a reason to sign up myself.
I have been looking for a 40 series to build up as a project for a little while now, I've always likes the styling and the utter utilitarian concept and looks to them; I just haven't been able to find the right one for the right price.

Until now. Something new caught my eye the last time I looked and 5 long days later not one, but two showed up on my driveway.

The first, and the main focus of my efforts for the time being, is a neglected 1980 FJ40L with some usual, and unusual modifications into a pseudo bush truck. The second, is a much better condition 1976 with a 305 Chev V8 stuffed into it.

My plan is to restore one, then the other, to their former glory; keeping the '76 within stock appearance and keeping the '80 as the big bush truck.

But without further rambling here are some pictures of the '80 after a quick cleanup, the '76 pokes its head out in a couple of them!

welcome to the fun, actually in your case, double the fun ... based on the pics, the 80 is an interesting beast, should be great off-road ... looking forward to following your project(s) ...

Quick little update, no crazy progress as of the last few days. I've been collecting parts and such for future use, planning everything out.
I had intended to bandage it up and use it for a winter car before I really tore everything down and rebuilt; but j guess that's out the window, go big or go home, right?
Managed to get the top off with the help of my lovely lady friend, as well as the rusted out rear sill, and some of the other easily removable panels...
Trying to get it as light as possible for step I'm dreading the most... pulling the tub off. My overstuffed garage made getting the top off hard enough, but I digress. Does anyone know roughly how much the empty full body tub weighs in at?

Bonus points if you correctly count the number of bikes on the wall ;)
