1978 FJ40 asking $6000 obo.
75000 miles, runs well. I have 25+ years of receipts of this vehicle from the previous owner, who kept things updated well. I have had it the last 4 years or so, was my daily driver till last year, I love this truck but growing family means it has to go.
Has Old Man Emu, added 33X10.5 BFG ATs, replaced the old holley carb with a professionally rebuilt stock carb (Jim C) and air cleaner. I have also had the exhaust replaced, new gear reduction starter, installed block heater and rear heater, previous owner had new radiator in 05, it has the drivers leather bucket seat out of newer tahoe in the back, but I also have the original jump seats.
The pictured new tires are not included as they are on my other daily driver (Bj60), they are the same but 33x10.5 with less tread, about 50% but still great shape. It has rust in the body panels, but the frame is solid, the passenger door doesnt open from the outside needs new linkage, it runs well, and is very stock otherwise. Everything else works, the 4x4, low range, wipers, heaters etc.
I have good ignitor and dizzy as well for spairs.
Its never overheated on me, and I drove it a lot in the summer, no power steering or AC, never had the top off.
Above is my craigslist ad, its a solid 40 mechanically, obvious rust though, sad to say. No hiding it though. It was repainted about 20 years ago, has some bondo, but like I said, nothing to hide. The roof is great though!
I always planned to fix the rust, but never happened, sad to see it go!
