1978 FJ40 uncut and 100% rust free. Runs and drives better than any FJ40 out there that I have owned or driven ( I have personally owned 30+ Landcruiser’s and 20 of them have been 40 Series) 60+ mph on freeway and steer with one finger. Tracks straight as an arrow and zero rattles in cab etc this is a tight well maintained FJ40 ! Must see and drive to appreciate this one. Jim C carb rebuild, OME Dakar 2 1/2 “ lift, 33” BFG mud tires. Odometer says 6500+ miles so 106,500 miles. I am helping a friend and selling it for him.
Clean California Title is in his name and he has owned it since 2008 and has lived on his property in Paso Robles, CA. It was repainted 25 plus years ago prior to his ownership. Given the mint original paint showing thru in a few spots I would bet with a steam cleaner you could remove the repaint and expose the original Paint. Only modification that is not stock besides the lift is the auxiliary gas tank. He is the 3rd owner and the original owner towed it behind his RV out to the Mojave desert to explore. It got a small dent on passenger running board and fender back then on one of his Mojave trips (see pic). The original paint is visible in many spots where the repaint has peeled away exposing mint original paint. No idea why he repainted it 25+ years ago but it was done…
Upholstery is in great shape. Original California Blue Plates!! 100%smog intact and passed with clean numbers. He is asking 30k OBO. Let me know if you need specific pictures or information.

More. The driver foot well has foul backing from heat blanket stuck to it in the pic. It comes peels off easily. This is the dent and area of filler. A refrigerator magnet will stick to the whole body except this dent on the fender lower lip. Notice the mint original blue Paine under thre respray showing

Very nice.

I’d be willing to bet they have a solid offer in place, looking at some of the names on this thread 👍🏻

Some additional pics as requested. We have a dash pad cover (CCOT one ) included with sale if you want to cover the original dash. The brighter blue is the mint original paint below the thin repaint

More underside pics. The undercoating from 1978 is flaking off. As seen in pics that’s clean original metal where it has peeled off.

Some had questions about aux tank. It’s a con-fer tank. It’s not in use and evap hose was capped as smog in California did not allow aux tank. The rest of the system is hooked up to the transfer manifold. I would clean out the tank and re hook up the evap hose if you want to use it. From the date on the sticker it was put in when new or close to it! Also I see a carb # so it’s probably smog legal but our smog guy wanted it disconnected.
