1977 Bj40 Factory Diesel Toyota Landcruiser, short wheel base Australian delivery right hand drive

12/1977
91,433 kilometers or 56,813 miles

4 cylinder Toyota B-2977cc Diesel engine
4 speed manual Toyota transmission
Cooper Discover ATR tires 31x10.50x15 +90%
Sunraysia wheels
Genuine Aussie home built “Roo” bar
Rear mounted spare wheel holder

The truck was imported professionally so it has all the import paper work needed to legally license it in the USA as a RHD vehicle. It was listed once before and everyone was concerned with about a title which of course they don't have in Australia so people were "concerned" about it. We will apply for a title in Oregon if it is required.

It has good straight frame, solid floors and body. It has a fresh coat of paint so it is very presentable but not a show vehicle. There is some rust in the body as they all do but nothing structural or very serious.

The interior is very clean, the seats have no rips or tears. The roof lining is original but sags in places. It keeps dropping so the new owner will have to decide what they want to do with that.

Would like to get $14k or close to it.

80 photos here.

Email me at info at austousa.com or call Lawrence on 503-804-3117 to set up a time to see it.

Is nobody on here interested in BJ40's?

Or is it the price?

Condition?

Just trying to feel out why there isn't much interest.

These are great trucks. Love my BJ42 and this one on your pic roll looks solid. Great reliability, decent speeds when you're road hugging and they generally hold their value. Price is always going to be part of the equation as to why anything sells or not. Having said that it's always subjective. This rig looks solid from the pics but may need a paint job which when done right means painting pieces individually. Few bucks there which would effect what someone will pay. That's my $.02 ;)

I think everyone is fixated on the 3b, 5 spd, ps, and disk brakes. The 2b , 4spd, drum brakes, no ps, just doesnt bring the big money, i think this cruiser market is just flat right now, these trucks a few years ago would sell in a few days? Thats my .2!

Thanks guys. Maybe need to drop the price a bit, I just need to move it on, we have had it longer than we need to hold on to them.

Open to serious offers.

bj40s coming out of canada in similar condition are fetching $5k-$8k less. just an fyi.

it gets even harder when bj73s and 74s with 13bt (better engine and turbo) are fetching $5k-10k in canada and are importable to U.S.

Dont forget about the canadian rust, almost all canadian rigs have serious rust and thus lower prices, bugs you still have that om617 ?

yep still got it.......

How is that possible? You were asking cheap money for it, and I'm sure I've seen a couple people who were about to come over and get it.

Whitey, swap that into your 45 and I'll give you $20k for it, heck $21k. :flipoff2:

We are always looking for something to fill our containers - is it worthwhile shipping BJ73/4's over?

It is a nice looking rig. For me, the right hand drive makes it less desirable. I would have to get a really good deal on a right hand drive to induce me to purchase one. I feel too much like a postman sitting on that side.

The RHD is a 50/50 thing, some can't get their head around it and others love the uniqueness of it.

Each to their own of course. We drove RHD cars when we lived in the USA and now drive LHD cars in Australia so we are backwards I guess.
