Hello,

I am rebuilding a 1977 Aisan 2f carb and after watching pinheads videos about the vacuum actuator, I have found that the vacuum does not pull up the butterfly to be open fully. The only way I can get it to open fully is if I rotate it on the opposite side where the linkage is connected to the primary. I know the primary is supposed to open the butterfly about 2mm on the secondary before the vacuum kicks in, but even if I manually push the vacuum in, the butterfly does not pull open. I suspect that it is still gummed up even after soaking and spraying some carb cleaner onto it. Any tips of tricks for the secondary butterfly to open smoothly?

Thanks

Ultrasonic or carb cleaner soak, brake clean out with compressed air heavily until smooth. If not then you need to remove butterfly and inspect why it’s sticking.

Once smooth I recommend inspecting butterfly to bore fit, sometimes you need to loosen the butterfly screws to recenter in bore for best fit.
