1976 FJ40 Build - First Toyota.

VIN numbers start with FJ40-

Built October '76 so that makes it a titled '77? Is that the date it was purchased or off the door frame vin plate. I don't know if they put the day of build on that plate. My '71 plate only has the month and year on plate.

My '78 also has month and year on plate; A pillar inside front drivers side door

Thanks for all the feedback guys! I haven't had the time to drive up to OR and take possession of it yet so not much new information to share. Hopefully will have it in my garage in July.

Took advantage of the Memorial Day sale at Discount Tire however. Looks like it's time to tidy the garage before Mustard comes home.

I may have mis-spoke regarding your top. As you rig is a late in the year '76 Yota may have already gone to the '77 and later top with the vent window. My brothers is a 3/76 and has the top without rear ent window............................ Nice rig and quite original. +1 on those stock steelies!!!!! I like the stock look

Seeing as I'm still new to Toyotas - anything we can glean from the above numbers?

If serial numbers are sequential, yours is about 2000 units newer than mine.
