"Selling my 1975 FJ55 to clear some room for some other projects. I haven't spent as much time on it as I would like and it's time to let it go to someone else.
Runs and drives. 31" BFGs with good tread. Haven't had any issues with it on short trips around the area but I wouldn't try and drive it long distance, as-is. 4x4 works hi and lo. Shifts easily through all 4 gears and into reverse. Has a small oil pan leak and a leak from the oil sending unit. Gas gauge doesn't work and previous owner disconnected expansion line from tank. Hubs are functional but need to be rebuilt. Rear window electrics work great. Aftermarket stereo that is disconnected from power (I never used it) and should be re-wired (previous owner did not do a clean install).
I have tuned it up (plugs, oils, rotor, points, etc.), replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter and rebuilt the carb. Starts up every time even after sitting for a while. It has developed some slight dieseling at shut-down... might just be some carbon build-up due to infrequent driving. Otherwise runs well and drives just fine.
Title is salvage. I can't find any evidence of an accident so I believe it to be due to theft. Front seats aren't original and some other things are missing. Normal FJ55 rust. Drip rails are rusty but nothing leaks inside. There are a couple small spots of rust at the back of each front fender well. Otherwise solid.
This rig is super fun to drive and cruises nicely at 50-55. It does need some work but it can be enjoyed as it is while it's being rebuilt and/or restored. California title in my name and currently registered with blue California plates (I think they're original to the vehicle)."
