UPDATE!

******** THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN SOLD! 11-03-11 *****************************

It's currently set up as a trail rig but can be converted back to street use or restored without too much hassle.

Here's a short list on the truck:
74 FJ40 rust free body and frame. The paint is a rattle canned white and laid on pretty thick. The top, sides and roof come with it and are rust free as well.
2F inline 6 with rebuilt and rejetted Weber 32/36 carb.
Original 4 speed transmission.
35x12.5x15 Goodyear MTR's. The spare is questionable but good enough to get you off the trail.
Black steel 15x10 wheels.
DUI HEI ignition.
GM Alternator conversion.
GM Saginaw Power steering conversion.
Electric fan conversion.
All new Painless Wiring kit installed. The original harness was shot so I removed it and replaced it. I do not have the original harness.
Axles - SOA- cut and turned front axle with custom spring perch done by Tom at TNT 4x4. Rear axle has been turned up and spring perches moved back to accomadate. Ruff Stuff anti-wrap bar. Running the stock 4:10 gear with a rear locker (Aussie).
High Steer with FJ80 TRE's
4 wheel disc brakes with mini truck master cylinder. Mini-truck front discs with GM rear disc conversion.
Bucket seats with lumbar support. I have the original seats. No jump seats though.
Ginger Fab 1.75 DOM wall roll cage. Similar to the Metal Tech - Jackson cage.
Custom rear swing out tire carrier
Custom front flat tow hitch.
Marine style waterproof gauges in custom dash insert.

$6500 obo. Not looking at trades unless it's for a mid to late 1940's Indian Chief.

Every time I think I am happy with my 80, I see something like this.

You know, if you're selling this because the wife said so, you may want to raise the price.

I would, however, like some pics to my gmail account, please - and thank you.

Looks really good, but how does the engine run?
How does it shift?
Is everything working?
Do you have some more pics?
One of the album is private and needs a password.
I visited last year the Southern Cruiser Crawl in Arkansas and have been guest of the CottonLand Cruisers.
I play with the idea to buy a trail rig and have fun with these guys.
I still have a BJ42 since 30 years.

The link is fixed. Both albums are viewable for everyone.

Everything works on the vehicle except for the wipers. Electrically the circuit is fine, but the wipers were missing when I bought it.

Mechanically the vehicle is quite sound. The trans shifts well. The x-fer case works very well and was modded by a previous owner for 2-low. I never had the desire to play with it. The 2F engine runs very strong and is from a donor 84 FJ60. The original F1.5 was toasted and replaced. This engine has the oil galley plug mod done also.

There is a minor brake leak which needs to be found and fixed but the brakes hold well. I would suggest replacing the flexible brake line for the rear brakes. I removed the e-brake due to a broken cable. The only part needed would be a new e-brake cable but all the parts are there.

The speedo cable is busted as well. I had a replacement made but the shop that did it fouled up the connector ends.

Any spares I have for the 40 will go with it as well. If you're interested I can also throw in some empty axle housings I have. I have front and rear housings from an FJ45 and an FJ60 front housing. No knuckles though.

The only thing to make it streetable would be to replace the SOA housings and anti-wrap setup. There may be more but that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

As I stated the truck has a rattle can paint job and was put on by a previous owner. It's not pretty but it did the job. You may want to think about getting the the body stripped and repainted.

Now I get it, trading one vice for another. Vintage motorcycles claim another victim. Hopefully you will be repossessing the 62 from Jr. and will still be hitting the trails. I have a buddy who may be interested, I will pass this on. Not for me though, got a shorty due in 2 weeks.

Sweet rig, good luck with the sale. Wish I had the cash. Kid goes off to school next year.........................

My reasons for selling are few but important. First off when I bought this 40 it was a challenge for me. I previously dealt with a 4x2 mini truck with a 22R. Then when I got my FJ62 it wasn't really a challenge and still to this day the truck runs and drives solid. I figured if Spork owned one anyone can. What fun is that? Secondly my wheeling time has diminished greatly in the last couple years. Family obligations are always a first with me and wheeling was getting in the way of that. Lastly, it was time. It was time to move onto other challenges. Don't get me wrong I love my Cruisers, but my passion is motorcycles. I have a chance to get 2 mid 1940's bikes for a good price and selling the 40 would finance their construction. To me it's giving up a one love to get something I've been dreaming of doing for the last 30 years.

This is a bitter-sweet sale for me to say the least. Buttoning up the cruiser tonight for it's journey to a new owner gave me a bit of remorse. Then there is a 46 Indian and a 48 KnuckleHead, both basket cases, that really need my time, attention, and wrenching.

Roger that. I was just giving you s***. I couldn't sell my 40 because it was my first car, and I've put 10s of thousands of dollars into it and I couldn't sell it for but about 7.

I would probably sell my 80 if the price was right.
