I will take some tomorrow. Ive been trying to do some things to the rig off and on to keep busy but my brain isnt co-operating. Right now I cant sleep and I feel like complete crap. Ive dropped almost 30 pounds in less then six weeks. If I didnt have a sense of humor who knows, I might be in a padded room... lol

I removed the hydroboost but kept it in a box. I also kept the adapter lines on the truck incase someone wanted to put it back on. I just screwed a block on and then ran a regular brake line to the factory proportioning valve which is how I ran my last two pigs with rear disc brake conversions and it worked out just fine. But the valve that was with the setup is in the box with the other stuff. Anyway 1978 FJ55 booster with oem master cylinder. All bled. Hella vacuum pump, new, same used with volvo truck brakes. It;s attached to the booster and works like a charm. Brakes work. I just need to finish bleeding them.
Power steering gear box is rebuilt and installed. There are two roller bearings on the pitman arm. The lower bottom one was replaced. The lower upper bearing was still good. I was in the processes of modifying PS pump brackets when the issues started with my TLE. So I never finished it and just ended it putting something in that worked to get the truck moving. So its not pretty but it is functional. So the truck drives and stops now.

Hey Im glad we all got together and started CO/WY and that it is still around. I still think it would be cool to make some club stickers with a crazy cow that has crazy eyes and long horns then have COWY typed over it. Oh and Mud tires rather then legs.
So this is a '78 or 9 body on '73 frame?

The black paint is mainly just black paint over worn or chipped paint. I got bored when I was painting some areas. It was after I did the body swap.

Freedom isnt free but everyone takes it for granted! Sounds like youve done alot to this one. I wished i lived closer,this is a hell of a deal! Iwish you we'll in this endeavour.

Ok.... 3200 someone needs to come and get it this week. Thats one hell of a smoking deal. This truck belonged to Royal Rose. He did the conversion. The truck is still at my folks house and they want it gone. I have no place to store it and with trying to sell it wont get into paying for storage.

Today I went out to my folks place and installed the alternator. Its a one wire and not at all difficult to install. I actually combined two small alternator brackets to make one that gives a wider range of belt selections and a more solid mount.
New belt works, charges, does the jobs its meant to do. I also cleaned all the wiring up on the battery terminals because they needed it.

Couple Questions...
FIrst, what's the story on rust on this one? Hard to tell from the pictures. If all the black spots are rust I wouldn't be interested, but if not, I definitely am.
Second, do you think it's up to a long road trip if I took it easy. I could fly in somewhere close and pick it up, but would have to drive it back home to CA as I have no other means of getting it home. Been looking for a diesel pig for a while, and not many to choose from in CA at all.

Ironpig1- You have options here, you certainly can get it transported from its present location to your place. I bought my 55 from a guy in Nashville and had it trucked to my place in PA for $500. Sure beats paying for a flight and then bearing the expense of driving the 800 miles back to PA. Also eliminates any trepidation about whether or not the old girl would make the drive without issue. When I weigh picking something up against having it trasnsposrted I alwyas figure my time (valuable to me) and expense- almost always makes me decide to have the vehicle transported.
My two cents nothing more than that. Gary S

Diesel Engine
Believe it or not,my WIFE is quite the expert on Iron Pigs. She fell in love with them while we were searching for a Toyota FJ40 and they have become our vehicle of choice. That being said, she pointed out to me this morning that the engine in this one is NOT the diesel we were looking for. Those older Cummings Diesels are too hard to get parts for , and the "C" series Detroits aren't as "beefy" as we would like. So unfortunately I will have to keep looking. I have a line on one not too far away for about the same price, which is a "driver" with a 350 chevy and a 4 speed, so either way I would need a different engine, and the local one has a nearly perfect body. Sorry about that. For a moment there I was pretty excited, but my wife does a good job of dragging me back into the real world.
