i'm selling this 40 because i bought an fj55 with the promise that i would turn around and sell the 40. i have procrastinated long enough and now it is time.
1971 california smog exempt
origninal f engine
3 on the tree
strong 4wd
new 31" mud tires with stock rims and hub caps
aftermarket roll bar
new sor front bumper
working doors with glass in tact
complete hard top ,sides and hatch with all glass in tact (not in pics below)
extra set of 4 tires on rims
many spare parts
i bought this fj40 3 years ago in san pedro and hauled it down to sd with the plan on restoring (with help from this forum). i got it to run and took off the top and had too much fun driving around to ever get to it. i had been slowly buying up parts to repair or replace over time and just kept having too good of a time driving around to get to it. (ask the wife and she'll probably say that it was having the third kid put my hopes of full resto to rest!)
there is rust in all the usual places for a california car that has lived its life at the beach. the seats will need to get redone, some rust/body work and a paint job and this rig will be a real head turner. the frame is rock solid and the engine is reliable and has good compression all around. there is a small oil leak. the clutch and tranny go along well with no problems---did i mention its three on the tree!
