I am selling my original 1970 Toyota fj40 Landcruiser pre smog. I purchased it from a older gentleman who used it to go to the beach with his dog. It is all original except for the carb. It has the straight 6 F motor, three speed manual on the tree and 4wd. It does run well and fun ride around town. It was a snow plow vehicle in Colorado before and that explains the rust issues. Frame is good but haven’t had it checked.
I purchased it with the intention to do a full rebuild. The existing tub which is the main body is not in great shape, so recently I bought a used tub to replace it when the time came. That tub is from the same year and in a lot better shape which would save on body work and money. I also bought used fenders to replace the current ones with the same intentions. It is a hard top, with all glass intact, but I recently removed it to drive it topless.
When I got it I did a small tune up to get it some fresh fluids. Oil and filter with oil lines, battery cables, changed over the point ignition to electric. Head cover gasket, rebuilt thermostat, carb and also the coolant hoses.I replaced the fluid in rear and front diff as well. It starts and drives with no problem or smoke from pipe. 4wd does Engage but haven’t gone off-road with it. It shifts smoothly but third pops out. I had a fj shop take a look at it, they thought it had very low miles even with the gauge stopped at 33k.
