'18 LX brake upgrade (for towing in the mountains)

16+ 200-series got larger bolts holding the calipers to the knuckle and the bolts are in a different location.. I’d assume they moved the bolts further out to move the caliper for the larger rotors.

These differences may be why there isn’t anything available for 16+ chassis.

A few responses from the Alcon crew re: the kit I linked to previously. They (Alcon) are apparently heavyweights (no pun intended) in the brake world..?

1.
"Very valid questions. Alcon specifically CAD and real-world tests their kits to match up to applicable year/make/models. For example there are no fewer than 6 different configurations for the LC76/69 kits based on different spindle-sizes and hub offsets. So I can confidently say that if it is listed – it has been tested. …and if we specify a fit – and it doesn’t we will either correct that or take it back. In fact we also offer a bracket that is undrilled for folks wanting to ensure specific fits."

2.
"I have confirmed that these were designed to fit under most OEM 17-18” wheels and are compatible with the 16+ models. We use a separate bracket kit for the earlier trucks.

Was the performance information we sent specific? Typically we don’t get direct temp data comparisons on these, but they are outfitted on the entire UN fleet of LC200’s and a number of other mil-spec applications. This kit was the higest class kit offered to NGO’s. Recommended for vehicles up to 6000kg (13,250 pounds) armored fully laden weight as ECE13 N2 class vehicles."

3.
"The pre-16 models came with a different pad and caliper combo. So the 16+ models are an “upgrade”. (That’s why the stats say “up to” as earlier kits aren’t quite as robust due to limited wheel size (16”) accomodations.)"

That Alcon set up sounds amazing, but $4,600 is spendy. With a heavy truck, you need what you need. Not clear if these would fit inside 17" rims on a 16+ (eg. Rock Warriors)

If this question gets asked it should be pointed out that rock warriors are quite high clearance for a 17” wheel.

I’m happy to ask re: r/w on 16+

I inquired about a group buy:

“Typically I do this:
Two front/rear kits – 5% off

Three front/rear kits – 10% off

More than three – depends on quantity but usually add 2% percent for each additional.”
