17x8.5 or 17x9 for a 35x12.5R17LT?

I have the option of both. Which would you guys run with a 35x12.5r17LT KM2?

17x8.5, 4.75" BS

17x9, 4.5" BS

Keep in mind this is on an 80 with flares (that I would like to keep) and a 2.5" lift.

I would prefer to run the 9's, but I'm concerned that the 9" wheel with 4.5" backspace will put the tires too close to the flares under full compression.

What do you guys think?

35" KM2s aren't 35". They're closer to a 33.5-34" mounted on a 9" rim.

Wider is better, in my opinion.

I'm of the same opinion as you, I just want to make sure it won't rub the inner fenders or the outer fenders/flares too badly.

After an afternoon of searching, I can't find a clear answer. I'd like to go 9", but I can't determine if a 4.5" backspace 9" wheel will rub on the outer fender/flare. Anyone run a 9", 4.5" bs wheel with 35's?
