Want your thoughts...
I'm thinking of going from my matching OME alloys on my 2005 4Runner and Expedition trailer to 17" FJCruiser Steelies. The question is I'm wanting to run/weld-on rim stiffeners and I'm unsure as to whether that would only be a good idea to use for off-road or is street use ok too? I was told that the rim stiffeners would make it hard to balance the wheels and thus rendering them not the best choice for on-road use.
I'm not interested in 2 sets of rims and tires so that's not an option. If the rim stiffeners aren't the best idea do you think it's worth going from alloys the Steelies for durability?
So you know what we will be using our rig for... We are building it up as a full on expedition rig for our tourism based company we started in Honduras and it will be shipped there in roughly a year or two when we move. The rig will be put through the ringer in the mountains and rivers and there is tons of rocks...literally.
Thanks in advance for your helpful thoughts!

. Either way it would be better then the stock alloys in the rocks. BB's in the tire would help balance it, if that is a concern.
