Anyone have Toyota 16" Split Rim that they could post some close up pics of?
I need outside, backside & middle (?) where the tube sits.

Weldcraft can widen them from 5.5" to 6.5" and keep the stock 3.5" backspace.
Well, most likely. I need to send them pics to double check.

Cheers, Allen

The best pics I can do this was a truck I had 25 years ago that had widened split rims, you can just make out the 40mm wide band welded into the rim, backspace remained stock

Toyota wheels are not "split rims"

Allen

I was a truck stop tire repairman 40 years ago. The Toyota wheels are not "split rims" (see page 10 items 2G & 2J in the link) they are "solid rim/split ring" wheels (see page 10, item 2A in the link).

True split rims were banned years ago and most tire shops will not let them in the door. They actually were dangerous in my opinion.

The solid rim/split ring type are not especially dangerous if the parts are in good condition and correct procedures are followed.

Today, few tire repairmen have seen either type or know the difference. They have been told that "split rims" are dangerous and banned. You show up and ask them to work on a split rim and they are likely to throw you out. Ask them to work on a solid rim/split ring wheel and you may have some luck.

The Toyota rim is by definition a split rim, the bead is not held in by anything other than the tension of the ring in the groove and the tyre once mounted.

Just because a government agency doesn't call them a split rim doesn't make it so.

These are some pretty bad photos. The ring was not snapped in during the photos which is why it is not tight. If you need more/better just let me know.
