The Cruiser originally came with nice cast (some say forged) wheels which limit the tire size to 35". I know there are 37's for 16" wheels but they are very limited and expensive.

17" wheels have become the small wheel / big tire standard and there are some manufacturers coming out with new tires that don't even support 16" wheels.

I'm debating whether to start saving pennies to replace my OEM wheels or run what I got until tires for the 16" wheels are almost non-existant.

Thoughts?

If you can find a tire you like that'll fit the 16's, no sense changing things up now. If you can't, then look at 17's. I spent some time a while back looking at and researching every 35-ish inch tall tire that fit a 16 and 17, and ended up with 255/85-17 Mickey Thompson Baja Bosses on first gen Sequoia wheels. There were several factors that went into landing on the Sequoia wheels. They're dirt cheap, are very easy to find, and they're narrow enough for the pizza cutters.

Anyway... yeah, I think the 16" tires are going the way the 15" tires went.
