13B-t manifold heater

My BJ73 has the 13B-t engine from a 74 fitted and as the swap was done in the warmer climes of Queensland it never had the manifold warmer hooked up. Now that the temp is dropping it is getting a bit difficult to start on cold mornings. How does the heater work, is it effective and would it be easy to retro fit?
