I just got a new 2013 LC. But the daytime running lights are still the highbeams - not the LEDs (they only come on with the HIDs)... is there a setting for this - can dealer make the change? anyone have a 13 that works properly? Thanks..

Just picked up a 13 on Monday....blown away. My previous vehicle was a 2005 4Runner AWD V8 I ordered new. Lets just say there is no comparison.
Anyway, in regards to the LEDs: On mine, the LEDs only come on when daytime running lights is selected...but the high beams are also on at a low intensity. They also come on when the HIDs are on. Unfortunately, if I have it set to Auto and its during the daytime only the high beams at a low intensity are on.
I would much prefer the LEDs come on with Auto setting during daytime.
Also, have you figured out how to make the navigation go to daytime mode with the headlights on? Mine is missing the Day Mode under display settings...what gives?

Hey texaswakerep, we have the same toyota history. I had a 05 4runner too - loved it - but wanted a v8 and a smidgeon bigger. I really like this new LC. I'm even surprised to find that I like the split tailgate. I lift dogs in and out of there and the open gate keeps my knees from the ball hitch - and the edge is always clean keeping dirt off my pants.
If you adjust the dash brightness all the way up it makes the NAV into daytime mode.. but then the gauges are super bright too. I tried your suggestion with the DRL.. they do illuminate if you turn them on manually - but what a pain. That definitely isn't the way they should operate. They should be the only DRL option and the hibeams off until needed IMHO.
I had a really luxed out Q7 in between the Toyotas, but it squealed and squeaked and never felt rugged. The memory of the way the 4runner felt impervious in the bad weather brought me back to Toyota.. the vault-like silence and lower-profile appearance of the LC really have it over that Audi. Oh and last thing, I really have a sense for where the tires are in this car - parallel parking is a breeze and avoiding potholes and obstacles is very intuitive. The LC feels much smaller when using that did the Q.

Ah, thanks for the heads up on the Daytime mode. I've read both quick reference guides, now to move on to the full manuals.

Cooler box will be less handy once it is filled with cds and sunglasses! Did you find cargo mats without the floor cutouts for the third row seats? I can't seem to find a custom LC cargo/pet barrier. Several in Australia, but nothing here.
About my same wish list - tint, remove third row, good mats, probably better tires (Revo2?), perhaps sliders.. then that's it except frequent visits to the gas station.

I think I read on this forum somewhere that these weathertech mats have cutouts in place that you can remove if you want to: WeatherTech Cargo Liners - Weathertech Cargo Area Liners, Weathertech Cargo Liner

Very Stealthy G-Man look... cool! Mine is white w/ black interior, I don't have the discipline for a black truck - though they look awesome. Do you actually go mudding or climbing? I have been considering removing the running boards and not replacing them. Any opinion on that?
No mudding or climbing here. We go to the mountains for a week every winter, but other than that this will be our boat hauling machine. I would love to have an FJ40 for off-roading one day.
I think I'd rather have no running boards vs the ones that come with it. They look cheap imo. If you aren't going to do any off-roading, I don't see why you couldn't just leave them off. My four year old boy needs something to get in and out with...so I've go to have something. I really like the looks of the slee sliders, toughens the LC up a bit.

I have a new black 2013 LC and was also thinking about getting the chrome on the doors painted black. I was curious how much it cost to have it done and are you pleased with how it looks on close inspection (the pictures you posted look great).

The dealership painted the chrome on the sides, the rear hatch, and the rear logo for $250. My buddy who works at an auto body shop says that price was probably due to the purchase of an expensive vehicle. After he inspected the work, he says it looks like they just taped off the sides but removed the rear hatch piece and logo. If I were you, I'd ask whoever does your work to remove all pieces before painting. There were a 'few tape marks' on the side areas that we are going to be working on when we detail the truck this weekend.
I really want to have the chrome on the grill black as well. I think my buddy previously mentioned and I are going to remove the grill and try the plasti-dip stuff. He agreed with the comments from the Toyota dealership that painting over chrome would lend itself to flaking from rock chips and such.

Update on the Weathertech Cargo Mat: Love the mat itself, but it looks terrible with my third row seats removed. Its headed back to AutoAnything.
I went to Sears yesterday and picked up a black rubber 1/4 thick 'Fatigue Mat'. It was 46" wide and about 8' long or so. Its not listed on their website, or I would include a link. It was $27 with tax! I cut it out with to fit under the side and rear hatch trim. I've got a few 'bubbles' here and there that I've pushed out as best as possible, and I'm hoping that some heat will help push them flat. So far seems to be a good solution for protecting the cargo carpet, though I may end up having a custom carpet mat made eventually to go over rubber mat to make cleaning/vacuuming easier.

They probably taped the side moldings because you can't remove them without destroying them. They are just taped on.

The side impact air bags make designing a cargo barrier or pet barrier difficult on the newer SUV's. Milford has one out of AU for the 200 but the pictures I've seen have what looks like an 8" gap between the barrier and sides of the interior. There is also one listed on the Toyota AU website. That's a real shame. Some of the accessories they offer through Toyota Australia are pretty nice to have, like the headlamp shields, roof rack components, and that cargo barrier. I bought some stuff from a dealer when I was down there the last time and everything fit perfectly. However, the cargo barrier was about $600, IIRC, which was more than I wanted to pay. It'd be nice if Toyota would offer those same accessories in the US market, even as a special order item. But, such is life sometimes.
hey beno have you had any experience with instal on toyota accessories if the customer gets them else where??
