Hi I am looking for a 12v alternator from a 13BT or 3B to convert my 24v 13BT to 12V.

Thanks

Joe

Hi Joe,

I don't have any for sale, however, here is a thread where JP @ClemsonCruiser posted a link to a Duralast alternator that seemed to be a direct fit for the 3B:

The link to the alternator is:

Make sure you look online for coupons, I bought one of these (to have as a spare) and I remember finding a $20 off coupon for it.

Hope this helps!

sorry to bump this old thread- do you guys have any links to the swaps? I've been looking around-and used the search function, but I haven't seen a write up on the alternator swap. Thanks. I've just swapped in the 3b and looking for a higher output alternator.

I have 3 or 4 12v B series alternators that I'll never use. I'll start up a thread soon to sell them.

I'm looking for aftermarket options for higher output. I'll be having a Dakota dash, lights and inverter for accessories. I see a lot of options but wondering what is the easiest swap with the most output for the least amount of money. also, unsure about the need for my booster anyway. The PO put 4 wheel disc and I think it's an aftermarket booster/master. so I don't know if I even need the vacuum pump on the alternator. I'm not super savvy about that swap.

If you have power brakes with a vacuum canister you need a vacuum pump. Try coasting your vehicle down a hill with the engine off and try stopping it. Pump the brakes a few times. Be sure to make sure there's nothing in your way because you'll likely run it over.

If your disc brakes are fully manual then you don't need the vacuum pump and you can use any alternator.

Yeah, I have a booster but what I'm not sure of is where it came from on the SBC. I don't know what the PO had it run through, maybe an electric vacuum. My 40 is at a shop getting the rest of the work done because my job landed me in Hawaii and unfortunately I can't finish the build out here due to a bunch of reasons....space, tools, time....I'm checking with the guy doing the work.
