manuals for the 12ht are available in the diesel section at the top in the stickied threads. Search in that thread for MattF's post. He keeps a huge library of manuals.

Why a relay to run a relay on your starter? Did stock do that?

i have searched there and found some things thanks.

it will fire soleniod but not turn. the new relay will just by pass the one that is on there.

well i got it running last night sounds good it is pretty quite engine. the throttle pedal is very sensitive if you just touch it will rev up fast i think i am going to add another spring somewhere anyone have any ideas?

I was thinking about what you said earlier, and I wonder if you noticed that the shifter has a plastic cup on the end that fits down inside the shift seat. If you pull the shifter out and there is just a steel ball with no white plastic cup, you need to verify that it didn't fall down into the transmission. Been there done that...and the transmission will eat it in short order.

Yep, quiet motors...very sweet.

there is another thread on the forum where a guy put a spring on there. Personally, I would go to an RC hobby shop and get a coil over shock from one of the r/c cars and mount that up. They are sprung, but also oil damped.
I bet you can get a bag of 2 for $20 or so. I actually have a bag of 4, but they don't have the coilovers and the seals are shot now (over 20 years old now).
Tower hobbies.com is also a place that you could order those. Here's a bag of 8 for $60...maybe you sell the rest to guys on here or order a smaller bag.

oh wait...here you go. Bingo!

hey Barry any idea on how to wire in the transfer case the one that when you shift to low range manually it opens the vsv?

congrats man! good work, feels good to get it running eh?

I didn't wire mine for this function, partially in case I ever want 2L, and mostly because I didn't want to bother at the time. First you need to determine what kind of switch it is by testing it or looking at a schematic. I don't know, but I suspect is has two wires: a 12V in and a 12V out when the switch is closed (when 4L lever is engaged). If this is the case, simply send the 12V out wire to the relay and splice it in where the 12V from the 4H switch goes. That way the relay will be triggered by either the 4H or 4L switch.

thanks Gehn, so you didnt wire that in yours. and yes it does feel good to get it running

I' ve actually read about that complaint in the diesel section too. Some guys are doing a sort of mod to control it. Might want to try a search in there, as I know I've seen multiple topics on it. Might help ya figure a good way to do it.

i have been searching the diesel section and alot of reading but a picture says a thousand words.

Barry, i took off the shifter and there was no plstic cup inside or on the shifter. i havnt driven it so do i need that.

Better shine a light down in the tranny then...see if you can see that plastic cup. I've had more than one 5spd that dropped that thing down inside when I pulled the shifter out. When they get some wear on them, they fall right off.

i looked in there with a light when i got home i saw nothing. should i take the top plate off.?

i took the truck and got the exhaust on today forgot my camera to take some pic. i went 2.5 all the way back to a turbo muffler sounds nice and clean.

Yeah, the turbo chops up the noise a good bit, and the use of a muffler makes it even better. 2.5" is what I ran on mine as well. Let me check and see if I can source that shift cup for you. I think you'll find shifting much more precise with it in there if it's missing now. As far as the top cover, removing that is kind of a pain with the 5th gear, but it's not too bad. Just make sure to put it in neutral and move NOTHING when you take it off. If the shift forks move, you may think you are in neutral, but in reality two gears can be selected at the same time. Getting the shift rails all back in sync takes some fiddling.

yeah i had the same trouble doing my other conversion, i really dont want to do that again. i was going to ask you about a shifter knob? which one did you use on yours?

i drove it for about 50 miles today. i am getting a vibration after 40 mph and gets worse as i accelerate. VTCruiser told me about the driveshafts getting out of phase but i checked them a hooked them up correctly. is it possible that they are not balanced? anyone have any other suggestions?

when you say its gets worse when you accelerate, do you mean it gets worse when under load or it gets worse with speed regardless of load? did you check your u-joints for wear?
