$1200 to spend, on what though?

they're the steering knuckles on the solid axle 80 series -- you don't have the same service PITA we do

So if a cruiser is used to fourwheel, but doesn't do rockcrawling type stuff, then you don't have to worry as much about the birfs? I'm a bit confused, explain. ???

Carsonmac,

The 100's don't have birfs. I think it's a booted more conventional style CV joint, with the IFS rigs.

Welcome to this list Robert!
Hopefully you'll find it more informative here than the "other" lists :D

Before you know it, you'll be set up with a snokel and 35" swampers -- you'll be running trails in Moab like this:

Damn, that ya truck, whats the specs?

As for what to buy for a 100...I do light wheeling with mine. I have 33 inch Goodyear ATS tires, and the factory rear locker. For what I do I find this is very effective. I run in mud, on rocks and dirt, while keeping it whimpy for streets...I'd really like a mud terrain tire.

Now my wish list has a lift or sliders at the top. I get scared going down ledges..don't wanna hurt rocker panels. I find that if I think I'll hit my bumper I will and go another way, which is why bumpers aren't on the top of my list. As for a winch...I think people have underestimated good tow hooks, a tow strap and a buddies cruiser.

OME lift and ARB or Slee the front. Keep it simple.

Having spent a whole lot of $$$ on mods, the ones I find the most noticeable (to myself and my wife) are the OME suspension+tires, upgraded brakes (performance pads, slotted rotors, stainless hoses, larger booster), ARB bullbar (wife loves the feeling of security), lower gears to go w/ the larger tires. After this, I'd say the rear bumper/tire carrier. It all depends on your use. My vehicle is a DD and sees mostly road miles (lots of road trips in the Southwest).

Check on the FAQ thread Most Effective Cost Modifications, it's a very good one that summarizes what a lot of the forum members have done to their rigs.
