did a compression test on the ol pig and got that. what are your cruisers running at?

with 35s yulp. about 275 miles a tank. (around town). the numbers ranged from 122 to 126. eh im stoked she runs strong, and I lover her. I'm still impressed tho for Nov. of 1981. plus lower compression helps engine longevity. (haha)

Tired motor. sounds like someone in the past never changed the aircleaner. The 2F (from a 85 FJ60) in my garage has 155 psi across the board and was well maintained.

who ever owned it before did not take care of it alllllllll. the air cleaner was black ripped, the plugs were prob original. Can't forget the rust. I'm always restoring upgrading her tho. It's come a long way since I bought a year and half ago.

The good thing about the 2F is that you can just keep running the thing - it won't die. Even with lower compression numbers.

Good think you don't have to pass a smog test...at least she'll keep going for you.

i don't think i even want to know what mine is because it will only depress me, but i'm sure i'll give in and see what it is in the next few months.

hey Pat,

no worries mate, if runs good, dont give it much thought.

it actually runs pretty decent and does get me from point a to point b, so i'm not sweating it too much. still i figure the PO didn't do much to help out though. but there is little rust on it for now, so that is always a plus. these midwest winters will eat it alive though

a little tip for ya patride before the snow sets in.... Keep your vehicle outside after you've "accumulated" all your salt underneath it. As long as it stays real cold the salt won't eat away at the paint as fast. It's the warmer weather above 32F that really gets the salt eating away at the paint and metal. As soon as it warms up hose off the undercarriage and rockers real well and it should hold up a little better than average.

hey chitown thanks for the tip. my rig is not garaged, so it will always be outside unfortunately. i'll make sure to keep it clean when over 32F and not so clean under 32F.
hopefully we don't have too many of the under 32F this year!

MY main 62 with 210K on it has 150ish. My spare 62 has around 135ish with 170K on it. My rock 40 with a balenced/printed/bored 2F with around 10K on it read 180 when new and now reads around 170ish. Brand new F in my 72 softop with 0 miles, 100% stock rebuild reads around 155ish.

I tell most people not to do a compression test. It is almost never good news. 120ish across the board is fine. What is bad is 120ish with 2 @ 140.
