Nah! I just loosened the u-bolt’s as far as I could while still keeping them threaded on and then slid the strips of rubber in. The tank is only dropping at most 1/2”.

I’ll be generous and say it took me 7 minutes using an electric impact.

I’ll save you 2 minutes and tell you it’s a 17mm deep socket. One bracket is 5” long and the other is 9ish”.
Mine started squeaking this weekend. Heavily loaded in the rear. After removing the load, the squeak disappeared.
Kinda makes sense if the load made the body sag closer to the frame and tank.
Figure I might as well fix it.

Did you have to remove the spare tire carrier and spare?

I didn't do the instal myself, so I'm not too familiar with the process.

No, I had more enough room by just loosening the u-bolts but not taking them completely off. I don’t remember how close it was to the tire carrier but it didn’t interfere.

That tire carrier is a pain.

I realize this is a bit of a blast from the past, but I wanted to add my own recent squeak saga with the LRA 12.5 gal tank.

I recently started getting a squeak/rub from the back of the car (2021 with 60k miles, so everything else is still really tight), most pronounced during hard low speed stops and general left/right swaying. Found out it was the electrical connectors pictured below rubbing on the tank (see attached pic with paper towel stuffed into gap). Best guess is the tank worked itself back over time and got close enough to rub on those electrical connectors.

BTW the truck is a @Eric Sarjeant build so I've no doubt it was done right, just pointing it out in case others are driven crazy by the little rattles and are searching for answers.
