I think it has a lot to do with the weather here in New England.

all my other cars were new england cars and i never had this much PM.

Pete you should get rid of it and buy yourself a nice cherry rust free truck now that you are down there away from all this salt :D

can you say FJCruiser?

Sorry about your troubles. My AC needed a recharge & expansion valve shortly after I bought mine.

I am guessing based on the attire in the picture you don't really need AC right now, lucky it did not happen in Phoenix in the summer.

we do now. the humidity is brutal here in austin, tx

Trade it for a Jeep!

dont poke fun, my cherokee with 100k didnt have these issues. all i had to was brakes.

Peter - the LSLC crew is here to help, we have quite a few contact around town, and Iam available this weekend to wrench.

I had several of the same problems with my FZJ80 when I got it, now she has been problem free for over a year. I know A/C very well and done several systems, so we will get you hooked up!! :)

Try walking around the University of Texas Campus in the summer - wow some eye candy there!!!

THANKS FOR MAKING THIS THREAD NO LONGER WORK FRIENDLY. :(

Pete, please add a "NSFW" to the thread title. I like my job, I'm sure others do too.

Sorry about your troubles, good luck getting things fixed up. You need to hook up with the good Cruiser folks in that area, like Mark and Cmdr Lee Armstrong.

thanks ken. mark is on his way here to pick my up for lunch. can't wait to meet the guys. just order 1,200 in parts. ABS sensors and harnesses as the codes told me to do so.

a used steering box because i cant wait for mine to get rebuilt.
a used ABS actualtor because i am tired os this and want to replace the whole system

a new radiator
a new fanclutch and all new radiator and heater hoses.

argh.

PS - i cant edit subject lines.

Mike: thanks for fixing the pics. Believe me, I'm no prude, but as a faculty member on a college campus (UNH), I have to be VERY careful what appears on my monitor. I don't spend a lot of time on MUD when I'm at work, but occasionally I like to hop in and see what's going on.

Pete: damn, dude. Wish I was there to come give you a hand and feed you beers.

thanks ken. mark and the guys took me to lunch which was nice of them. all the parts are en route. i actually got new pads all the way around on the brakes (100 series in the front) and it does stop MUCH better now. i am still going to take care of the whole ABS system (almost all of it anyway).

Pete - The custom wheel need to be reblasted and powder coated and they'll be good for years. Given the way Stockton had to make them with spacers to create them at 16", it's difficult to get the powder coating into all the corners. I'm sure you could get some decent $ for them if you wanted to sell. Heck, I'd buy them back if they were the right offset for a 4x.

yeah randy. i am going to sell them i think and get some OEM steel wheels. too much maint. to have to have them powdercoated again. not my cup of tea for wheels.

Pete,

Hold out for the all white Trail Teams edition, I love that thing. :) Looks sweet in that color with the black wheels. Not anything in the SE you can't get in other packages or from TRD Aftermarket but the color scheme is unique to the lineup.

Early on in the life of the FJ Cruiser, Toyota gathered some of the most knowledgeable members of the off-roading community and asked them to join the FJ Trail Teams. Their mission? Turn up at club events around the country and lend their expertise to help make the off-road experience a better one, both for the FJ owners and the environment. Now, we've created the Trail Teams Special Edition FJ Cruiser. This unique FJ takes charge of the trail while sporting an exclusive Iceberg White exterior, black bumpers and side mirrors, a locking rear differential, the praised A-TRAC traction control system, plus legendary Bilstein® shock absorbers. And to make it all official, you'll find a TRD exhaust system, matte black TRD alloy wheels and a distinctive TRD shift knob. Happy trails.

A bit of lift, a bit taller tire, and BudBuilt's full underbelly skid plate and I'd be pretty happy with that as s daily/weekend wheeler...... if gas were free. ;)

I saw a car hauler with 6 of these on them as i was headed to the airport yesterday in honolulu. definately turned my head.

Pete,

I've got 5 OEM non-USA steelies from an 80 I'd happily trade to you for those hubcap steelies...

Sorry to hear all the issues with the 80.

Randy,

I have some OEM non-USA 80 series steelies on my 40. The only issue I had was the front needed an 1/8" spacer to clear the tie rod. You might not even have that issue with those high steer arms you've got on your 40 now. With the inflatable beadlocks inside the tires they worked great on sidehills too (not a whole lot of sidewall flex with a tube supporting the sidewall near the rim).

Nick

David - in reality - $2 or $3k to get the 80 running til the next issue is much better than the $10k i would be in the hole if i bought a new car. after this HUGE repair, the only thing practically left is the head gasket.. tranny and tcase.

Thanks Nick - I don't really need wheels for the 40. Just saying that I'd buy Pete's back if the offset was different as I like the oem-widened wheels...and they are 16"s.

What's the story with these inflatable bead locks? Sounds interesting. Got pics?
