So this process took more time than most would allow the tranny to drain but I put the front end up on blocks with my lift and let her sit for about a week. Then I disconnected the radiator port on the driver's side and let that drain and eventually hit it with a little compressed air and got some more out. I was able to get out 8 quarts. Shut everything back up and put the same amount back in of fresh new WS ATF. Had to start it up after 6 quarts (no more would fit) and let it idle for a few minutes and put it in each gear. Put in the last 2 quarts and I'm done. Truck has 64K and this was my first time servicing it, I also changed the oil and lubed the joints & shafts.

Today I was emptying the drain pan and find a whitish residue on the bottom. Kind of looks and feels like the white teflon spray lube I've used before on hinges and such.

Anyone have any idea what this stuff is or could be. She runs great and has been babied all it's life - was a mom driven grocery getter till I picked it up last December.

Sad news, @PLROD, you are officially out of the running for this year's Shop Safety Award o_O

3/8 is ok if treated. What about the cinder block? Those things rn't load rated on there side.

There's a 9k lift under there guys, look closer...

8 quarts, so just about half makes since without getting the fluid out of the torque converter.

Next time, block the tranny cooler thermostat, and disconnect the lines at the same area you did. Run the the motor until until you pump 2 quarts out. Then fill 2 quarts back in at the fill plug. So that till you hit cherry red fluid or about 16 quarts.

Then do the tranny fluid temp bypass and make sure you are at the right fluid level.

If you need help with the fluid check procedure just let me know. But if this is your first fluid exchange, even with you taking out 8 quarts and putting 8 quarts in, you are probably a little low.

When I worked at a Toyota, we had a few people just want us to check the fluid level after they exchanged themselves, and they where always almost a half quart low.

I did see the lift but could not resist the fun observations.

Good job on doing your own service work. Lots of good people here with info and experience.

Can you post a pic of what is supporting the other tire?

It's all good. Here's the rigging to take the weight off the front suspension I had on the left, the reason for the right being what it was is I was trying to match this height of the left side. The black block looking thing on the right side is actually a wood block that's been around the shop for a long time so it's black from all the oil it's absorbed.

The white stuff on the bottom of the pan is condensate mixed with ATF and likely a combo of compressed air and the high humidity we have here this time of year. I'd never seen so much though.

The hand pump thing is what I have rigged for filling and works pretty well. They cost around 10 bux at harbor freight and the tube adapted to it, which fits perfectly, is a piece of salvaged hard ATF line.

Thanks for all the replies guys, I appreciate the input (esp Taco2Cruiser), I actually did put in a dash more than I took out. That thermostat has an interesting location, I messed with it a little and left if alone.

Next time I'll line up the tire supports better LOL.

Lexus dealer quoted me today $ 1835 otd for the 60K service, they change all the fluids, replace the thermostat, lower and upper radiator hoses. That seams like a lot of money to me (the service adviser thought it was a bargain) I don't really think I'd replace the thermostat or hoses at this point, just change the coolant & fluids.
