I have Hella 550 fog lights on my FJ60 and one bulb just burned out. They are currently the 55W H3 bulbs (IIRC). I was at checker and they sell 100w version of that bulb.

they are wired with the stuff that came with them from the package...anyone know if it's OK to put higher Watt bulbs in those housings...AND/OR...if I should be concerned with creating a "thermal event" under the hood with the regular wiring currently on there.

I have 100 watt bulbs on my wife Dodge Caravan since 2000 and so far, I haven't any problems.

I ran 100W bulbs in my Hella 500's and then one night, after running them on for a while it rained and the next time I used them, one was dead. When I checked, I realized that lense had cracked, and water inside. I did not think much of it, till it happened again after I replaced it. Asking the local 4X4 place, without me saying anything about rain or 100W bulbs he said if you run too hot of a bulb in them and they get water on them they will crack on ya....I think it was from the heat.

You'll need heavier-duty wiring, too. Don't know them but there are rules/guidelines by amperage (watts divided by volts) & length of run. And a correspondingly-rated relay if you don't have it already.

Yeah, you can crack the lens, but think of all the fun you'll have until then!
