The system will not allow you to register for trails where you do not have the correct equipment. Don't try to fool it since it will be picked up when you do tech inspection. The system is designed to make it fair for everyone and be conservative in equipment needed. Since we can not judge individual wheeling experience or capability we have to go with the highest equipment spec we see fit. The good thing is that we actually use past experience and local knowledge to rate the trails and not just get them from a book. The trail rating is reviewed and updated for every CM.

Once can certainly argue that "Hey I have done that in a open diff FJ40 etc etc" however it does not make for a fun day when you are leading 20 trucks and have some under equipped vehicles on the trail.

Thanks for understanding.

Thanks for explaining! That totally makes sense! I definately do not want to be the a** hat holding up the entire run because I bit off more than I or my rig can chew! i know I am going to have a blast either no matter what!

Christo, Thanks.
Probably something to address for future CM's as more of the ATRAC equiped vehicles participate.
Without a policy, it's kind of left up to the owner to decide if ATRAC = lockers or not, at least until they get to tech inspection, then the tech inspector has to make the call.

That is true, however with the 100's reputation of blowing front diffs, I am very scared of relying on ATRAC in Moab vs having a full locker.

We have a CM meeting next week, so we will discuss the issue.

as you know, 2000+ has the 4-pin, how much more abuse could this take over the 2-pin? Moab wheeling or what? I have certainly done some gutsy stuff in mine, bouncing the front end, full beans up a hill. floored it going up something off camber. Really no problem. It would be a lot of work, and I will probably never make it out to CM but maybe separate the 98-99 and the 2000+ into a separate class.

or we could all just buy lockers... wouldn't that be nice

Thanks for taking it on, don't know if you have time to get into for this year, will open up which models (100, 200, FJ, etc) and years meet what level. But some guidelines for the tech inspectors would make their job easier.

OK, so this is what I am bringing to Moab. Feels pretty good in the limited driving I have done with it. Hundy people will probably not be as excited as 80 people about this.

Fits right in there! Nice work! Can't wait to read more about this one.

Christo, in a 100 how much does ATRAC count for? I have only been on level 6 trails since the rear locker went in. A 6 has some serious ledges and was glad I had the locker, but wonder where ATRAC fits into the trail rating system, its better than open diff, but how much?

The regestration specifically asks if you have "Rear Locker (or A-TRAC)?" as well as front locker, tire size and most importantly DRIVER EXPERIENCE.
