Been a while since I've posted, but this is too crazy not to share. Doing some yardwork and clearing this weekend, I discovered an abandoned (and undisclosed) septic tank in our new home's yard. Totally invisible on the surface, the opening gave way to a 6 foot deep, 8x8 hole clearly revealing a metal septic tank disconnected about 30 years ago by a prior property owner.
The car was caught by the hitch (and the giant BFG on the spare under-mount) and rested on the frame/skid plates in the front. Beneath the two rear tires there was just air and 6 feet of open space (hard to see in the pics). The factory hitch frame appears to have prevented serious exhaust/bumper damage.
AAA pulled me out and it appears the car is no worse for the wear. We'll see.
Fortunately, the 100 found it and not the kids or one of the tree/construction trucks we've had on the property doing work.
