So Ryan mentioned to me that his cruiser has well over 400k on it. Apparently his dad drove it 100 miles a day before he got the truck. He can tell the rest of the story, but I'd like to know what all the truck has needed over its life. Ryan said they had a slight hum from the transfer case at some point but I'm not sure what they did to fix it. Ryan, if you can, I'd love to hear what the truck has needed mechanically and also a pic of your odometer would make me proud to be a 100 series owner.

I can tell you what in needed... Bags and bags of cash to cover the dedicated tanker runs from the fuel refinery. Holy crap! 400,000 miles with an average of 14mpg? At 280 miles per tank with 20 gallons of fuel, that's 1430 tanks of fuel. Let's say fuel was $3.25/gal, that's $65 per fill. $93,000 in gasoline. :steer:

Does it matter what else it needed? That's like asking how much your drink straw was on you super sized KFC family meal.

The first 4 years I owned my 100 gas cost me less than a $1/gallon. Given that many of the miles were put on in that time as my daily driver, it brings my total over 300k to less than you'd think.

I think high milage is awesome. But I also can't help but (comically) think about how flippin' thirsty these beasts are. Perhaps it's just because I feel so lucky to live in SoCal where my fuel is perpetually $4+ per gallon. Viva la beast!

I'm interested to see what's been replaced at 400K+. Or for that matter, how many times a component has been replaced (ie. starter).

Ok... Ok.. It's true, 435,000 plus miles. I'll do some digging into my the records and post up a list of everything major that has been done.

New thread or add it to this one?

Up to you, and trunk monkey I suppose...but I do want to know everything about your truck and pics too of interior, engine, etc.

What's the deal with such alarming comments about the gas mileage of a 100 series? What did you previously drive a prius? Surely you weren't expecting 25 mpg were you?

It's a Land Cruiser for crying out loud...the best machine on the ground.

I'm getting much higher MPG's than previously posted. My wife and I have driven her 100 to OH and back from CO a few times. At 65MPH we were exactly at 400 miles when the low fuel light came on. It was totally stock at that time, running on 91 octane.

My 80, which is built....has bad mileage.

Are we talking about a 100 series?

Yes. I private messaged him when I heard he had 435k on his truck. Crazy. His dad formerly owned it the n Ryan inherited the truck and is still driving it. Hoping he spends more time on here cause I'm really interested in his maintenance as he approaches half a million miles as well as pics of the truck to see how the interior has worn etc.

Well, I found all the records. I think I'll start a new thread with pics, but I think I have a limit. How do I change that?

Till then here's the first bill in the stack. Yes, that's a dealer oil change at mile 5541.

For dogs sake don't post those receipts! Racing rule is that all car upgrade and maint receipts must be kept in a box with a lid, and only opened in the dark. If the lid is ever opened, treat it like Indiana Jones and the Arc - eyes tight shut until you can get the lid closed safely.
