I'll spare you the smart ass comments. You should do a search though as you will get a lot of valuable information on this topic.
I've driven both and the 100 is a completely different vehicle. Much more refined. More comfortable on the road. Better for high speed off road applications. More towing power. And it doesn't have ANY of those well known 80-series problems. If you plan to mod there are lots of limitations that the 80 doesn't have, but like I said, do a search and you find everything you need to know.
I have one of each, love them both. The 80 is rugged and awesomely capable offroad, but it is a little underpowered when armored up, and undergeared on 33's or 35's, 4.88's and a 2UZ took care of that.
The 2UZ V8 in the 100 series is smooth and continues to make power all of the way up the tach. 100 series is comfortable and has a well controlled highway ride. Known issues are weaker 2 pinion front diff on 98-99 (easy to take care of with ARB locker install); 90K timing belt change recommended by Toyota on all 100 series years, steering rack can get worn/loose by big tires and dirt roads and is a bear to r&r. Later model years have stereo head units with integrated HVAC controls, so more complicated if you are an audiophile and cannot live with the stock head unit.
You can't go wrong with either one, biggest difference would be do you tow, and/or, do you live and drive at high altitude and spend a lot of time on highways with grades. If so, 100 might suit you better.
