Hello all... New on here and already found a wealth of info to help me with the new ride. I just purchased a 99 LC 100 series that I believe has all factory options and is in great condition aside from the front seats. They show a little wear and tear (leather is cracking, etc) and I was looking for replacements skins, covers, or possibly even new seats... I have tan leather from the factory and a DVD player was installed with TV's in the headrests... Am I better off going with an upholstry shop local or any other ideas??? SleeOff road referred me to Katzkins.com but they do not make anything newer than 97 covers. Thanks in advance for the help...

I ordered new skins for my '99 about a year ago, I think I paid about $800 and did the work myself (whick is a PITA). Then I spoke to a buddy who paid an upholstry shop about $1k for three rows of leather in his Armada. So, my recommendation is to go talk to some dealerships and ask where they send their cars for leather.

Talk to AATLAS1X and take a look at this thread. They are doing $504 for the front seats (top & bottom), headrest and door panels for the 80 series. And $607 for the both front and middle rows complete.

When it comes time to do mine, I'll be going with Alcantara fabric.

If your seat pads are worn, you can probably buy the OEM seat cushion as well. Talk to Cruiserdan about those.

I purchased and installed complete front and rear seat covers from GT Seat Covers (they market themselves under a couple different names) for my '99 in September. I have been extremely pleased with them; they fit very, very well; available in different fabrics and colors; and less than $200 complete (front and middle seats, armrests and headrests).

Although my leather is in good shape I wanted seat covers to protect the leather #1;#2 wanted a less slippery surface for on-trail use; #3 wanted a cooler/absorbent seat surface for summertime heat...and warmer seat surface for winter time cold.

No complaints.

for just some seat covers you could try

www.precisionfit.com

should have covers if you decide to go that route.

good luck.

X2 for G.T. Covers... Good fit , Great quality... :)

Those using the GT Seat Covers........ What material did you go with??? Looks like the Newprene waterproof ones would be nice since I frequently hit the beach in the summer and take my boat out quite a abit. I do see another waterproof material that may be a good candidate as well.

I went back and forth between their cordura (sorry I can't remember what the actual name for this material is but it is a finer weave than typical cordura with some polyester blended in for a better hand) which is waterproof and the velour. I ended up going with velour because I thought it might be more comfortable overall and it has worked out great. Even with my dogs sitting on the middle seat with sand/dirt/mud on them or their paws the velour seems to clean up fine...in retrospect maybe I should have opted for their cordura type material for the middle seats for an extra measure of toughness/waterproofness because of the dogs.

Also FYI: The front seats have a nice pocket in front...just under where your knees rest and also another small pocket on the outside portion of the seat back cover...along with a nice large pocket on the rear of each front seat back.

FYI: They were only too happy to send me actual fabric samples of as many fabrics as I asked for...great customer service!!!!!

And...just so you know I have no affiliation with GT Seat Covers...just real picky about what I purchase ;) .

looks to me like gt is the same thing as precisionfit. same pricing and same options as far as fabric. anyone go with the microsuede? our couch is made out of it and this thing is amazingly durable as far as stain resistance and hard wear.

The Microsuede is actually pretty decent and has a nice soft feel to it, but all the colors (except black) give that "poorly vacuumed" look when you sit on it. To me, at least, It looks kinda ugly unless you re-brush the entire material the same direction to give it a consistant color/pattern again.. :frown:

great point. wouldn't have even seen that in a fabric swatch. do they offer them in cordura? didn't see that on the site.

you're a dealer? in vegas? if so, PM me and i'll order them through you and pick them up next time i'm out to see the inlaws (or have them pick them up).

thanks.

Ummm... I dont have an answer to that one Spress... I will walk away now in utter shame ... :o

Actually we just recently picked up their line of covers again, but I have dealt with the GT product before... For the money they really are hard to beat.

just got the GT covers from sin. got the 'cordura like' waterproof option. fit like a glove.

there's one strap that's meant to run from side to side underneath your butt that has no chance of making it though the labyrinth of mechanics down there, but not having it secured seems to present no functional disadvantage. used a modified wire clothes hanger to feed the front to back straps underneath the seat. simple.

pleased with the fit. pleased with the color (i got grey and it pretty much matches the rest of the interior).

THANK YOU SO MUCH SIN!!!!!

i'll be in touch if i EVER need any other toyo stuff.

ps. after seeing how well they're done, i'll definitely be doing second row in the coming month or two.

Heres a chance to redeem yourself.
I looked at the website and noticed that the waterproof covers state "For leather seats only". Will they work for cloth? What is the return policy if I buy them and the fit is poor?
I have cloth seat now and just want to protect them from my wittle bitty poodle.

I just noticed you post _jp_ , I`m so glad you liked them !!
Did you get to try them out very well (like spill a soda on your seat or something) ;) Thats the TRUE test !

Hmm.. I was never informed that the water-proof material had any issues with cloth, I will find out for you rusty and let you know . BTW I am jealous of you having cloth seats in your rig, if I could, I would trade in my leathers in a heart-beat !!

As far as returns go, If you dont like ANYTHING about the covers you can return them to me ( I dont know if GT will take them back , but I will refund you regardless :) )

Your poodle would be in doggy delight kickin back on some GTs ! ( oh, plus any accidents would be easy to clean up too ;) )

Peace !

Cloth interior seems to be popular.

Pleas let me know ASAP, we are shopping for covers right now and will make some kind of purchase soon.

Jake never has accidents.
Once in a while he will hock up something he ate while we are in the hills though, and you can't keep him out of the water if there is any around.
He's kind of cute so you can't get to mad at him though

Having cloth in 2 of my cars and leather in the 100, I prefer the leather. Why? 'Cause dog hair doesn't stick to it!! It just falls off. On the cloth seats (black cloth, dog is a yellow lab, so thick, yellow hairs), the hair sticks into it like a needle in a pin cushion. Tape combined with a strong vacuum is the only combination that works. Also, leather is easier to clean up. I keep a bottle of the lexus leather cleaner/conditioner and a rag in the back 1st aid storage cubby in case the baby has any disasters. I can't tell you how many hours I've spent vacuuming dog hair off car seats...a lot more effort than slapping leatherique on the leather 2-3 times/year.
