Unfortunately I just totalled my LX 470 and am looking for a new (to me) 100 or 80 series with less than 150k miles. I would prefer something close to Oxford, MS , Memphis, TN or Dallas, TX (parents live there, I can fly in). Appreciate the help in advance.

Yes, I'm texting him as we speak. Although the mileage couldn't be better, I'm questioning whether or not I want to drop that money on a 20 year old car without the amenities of a 100 series. I'm unfamiliar with 80's, is that a fair price?

Hard to say on price since the miles are crazy low. I talked with him and considered it but the engine in the 94 leaves me wanting. Really nice guy.

where in North MS are you located if you don't mind my asking.

Coming from a 470 and you not having owned an 80 before (I've had 5 80's) you likely won’t be happy with the I6. Very underwhelming compared to the V8. and Memphis to Indy isn't terribly far. I drove to Nashville to pick up one of the 80's.

I've owned a 470 and an 80 and it was the creature comforts that the 80 lacked that got me as a daily driver. The AC just does not keep up with southern summers and does not blow at all in the rear. Engine was fine and I preferred ride and suspension and simplicity of 80s otherwise. 470 rides like a boat. 80 seems to have firmer footing. Just my 2 cents...

I just got done with my search. There's a 2002 in Dallas on Autotrader with 116,000 asking 15k that looks in very nice shape. I didnt go see it, and don't know anything more, but the price isnt insane.

Btw, I went with a 2000 year because you get VSC starting then. It was important to my wife and something to strongly consider in a daily driver. The V8 is incredibly smooth.

The only thing the 80 is better at is offroad. The 100, well the 470 with ACH and ride control is not a boat at all, but you know that already. In sport mode it corners flatter than just about anything else I've driven. You can come drive both and purchase which ever one you want lol. You also have to remember that even thought the 02's have the same tranny as the 00-01, the 00-01 had tranny issues, where they would gernade. Probably about the same % as 80 head gaskets lol.

FYI my phone died this morning. I'll keep in touch through messages

Don't suppose you'd be interested in a 98 with rear locker with 185000 miles and new timing belt for 10k?
