through the river and over the woods.
Ok, maybe im not putting swampers on and thrashing my 100 thru the nevada desert, or maybe i dont have a fully modded LX with Armor/Rooftop tent/drawer system...but i do know one thing.

My truck is awesome for moving. This past summer i helped two friends and their families move to new homes. When their minivans and little pathfinders couldnt handle the job, the 100 came to the rescue.

Well, right now im in the process of moving and as im loading up these boxes in my truck tonight i noticed something that is so nice about our trucks.

its the clamshell design. I have my truck parked in the garage close to the door from inside the house. I basicly, can walk from inside the house, and straight into the back of my truck without having to take a step down. And then i just crouch down a little and walk all the way into my truck and place the box down.

Im just showing my love for our clamshell tailgate design...and i hope the next model doesnt do away with this design and go with something like the Sequoia or GX470.

I agree that the clamshell is great - one of the main reasons I like this truck.

But let's be realistic. I can get 10 foot long boards and pipes in my Town & Country, and lay down 7 feet of anything else. The 100 can't come close to the capacities and ease of access to a minivan.

Don't those strobes get in the way of loading? Why not mount them directly to thte hatch?

I can get 10 ft pipes in my 86 4runner, too, since the rear window can be lowered. The tail gate/clamshell design also serves as an excellent diaper changing table when on road/offroad trips, even when the vehicle is packed to the hilt. I've also used it for watching July 4th fireworks in a light rain...just sit on the tailgate and the top serves as an umbrella!

Capacity, sure a minivan would get more, but they had one of those ugly quests, too hard to take the seats out.

As far as the LED Warning lights up there like that, What if i open the tailgate on the side of the highway....do i need airplanes to know im stopped on the shoulder? I mounted them like that, so even if the hatch is open, the lights are still pointed down the road. And I used to have them hanging down on a bail bracket, THAT got in the way, then i decided to just bolt them straight on.

Oh and i have a fresh panel so i can just take the lights off, disconnect the quick disconnects for the wires and pop in a unmodded panel.

Ya ive done that as well...that tailgate is an awesome portable bench.

I agree. I moved tons of boxes with the LC and saved the huge stuff for a few hours with a box truck and some friends.

You know, im actually really surprised how many boxes i fit in tonight.

I still put two more boxs and a exercise pad in after this picture. Once i started the truck it just came right back up to the proper height, gota love AHC. The first two trips i did this afternoon were very light loads with framed pictures. This third trip i just got done running/unpacking was a motherload. Good thing i never got that IS350 that i had wanted last year!

Looks like you now need an '04 for the backup camera!

I have one like this and find it useful for anything. Moving things couldn't be easier!

better then an 04 with the backup camera...I have a camera in the tailgate on a switch. I used it all the way to the other house...works just like a mirror.

as far as trailers...I don't own one but I'm renting one tomorrow night. going to move some couchs n tvs and stuff.

Where ya moving to?

I think the 100 is ok for fitting stuff, but I can fit way more crap in my 60 though. Maybe because it's got a lot less plastic and is square.

Here are a few pics I took at the start of packing from NY to SC so I would remember how I did it when we move back. By the time I finished, the car was packed to 100% capacity... unfortunately no pics of the finished product
